When polaroid stopped making film, Impossible stepped in and did a really nice job trying to keep the format alive by re-creating the film, and they showed good improvements year after year, they really wanted to just keep the format alive and keep producing film.
A little while after they rebranded to "Polaroid Originals", they lost a lot of what made them special, and went from trying to improve the film and keep it alive.. to trying to cash in on it any way they can. All of the collabs and tie-ins (like stranger things), they saw the money and started pushing out these incredibly crappy Polaroid Now and Polaroid OneStep+ Cameras.. the metering is off and you'll get 90% crap images. I've bought almost every one of them (not this latest model), hoping for the best but always getting the worst. And when images cost $2 - 2.50 a piece, it's even worse.
Around 2018-2022 I shot probably ~10-12 packs of polaroid a week and ~20-30 packs of Instax. Instax was always reliable, but Polaroid had that neat vintage aesthetic to it.. In a good camera like an SX-70, the film looks amazing and really shines. In these crappy Polaroid Now cameras? you're lucky if anything isn't completely dark.
I was fine paying the premium knowing I might get a couple good shots per pack, since it was worth it to me. Turns out, those images don't last. Almost every black and white Polaroid photo from 2018 - 2022 has become a faded image of almost nothing.. and the color ones shifted colors so heavily that they're very much unlike the photos I originally got.
Many, many packs of film were defective right out of the box and polaroids excuse was always "That's the fun of them, you never know what will happen with them!" and played the 'we're just a small company' card, after I've dropped $10k+ on film with them.
I keep hearing the newer film is better, but nobody knows. What you get at first does not last, it will fade, it will shift colors and images will disappear.
I love the idea and the look of it, but if you want something that will last and will still get you a vintage aesthetic, pick up Instax. A "Lomo Instant Automat" will give you that distorted, blurry, analog look with photos that will last, and you can often find them on ebay for $5-10 with people listing them incorrectly.

I ended up re-discovering 35mm analogue photography, and it's pretty cool and not as expensive!

I was an impossible pioneer. I still have boxes in my fridge of most of the generations of film they made. The hoops I jump through for all the issues they had grows tiresome. When impossible ended and the new "Polaroid" was announced, I kinda saw the writing on the wall. The results are inconsistent and the chemistry is wild. I'm tired of cutting slits and putting them in silica packets.
It was fun while it lasted but I've been consistently using Instax, but my SX-70 needs to come out sometime.
TL: DR if you buy this, read into what the film needs and how they age
