I was able to get a Red Pocket e-SIM number for $7.78 and successfully ported it in to Metro. Plus Metro total of $165.24. All in with eSIM port-in and Metro is $173.02. Now we wait for it to unlock lol

Phone unlocking in one year is a deal-breaker.

I just reactivated an iPhone 13 from them that was last used may 2025.
it's still locked to them.. so don't hope for a 6 month no useage unlock.

I guess I'll check again in may..

I did it to order the Galaxy watch but now I kind of wish I had ordered this phone instead..

How much does a visible number cost these days?
Usually $25, but they have/had a $5 off promo. The $20 off with referal does not work any longer.

yes, metro is 12 months now, and the TF/ST/TW is 60-day+ and not 30 any longer.

I used Red Pocket number to port in, but at the final step of transfering after waiting about 5 minutes Metro said my number cannot be transfer at that time. I still got a text message from Red Pocket alarm about a request for transfer.
Hi. I had the same issue, and I was able to resolve it. Here are the steps.
  1. Call Metro customer support +1 888-863-8768 and give them all the necessary details, but ask them to give you a heads-up before they submit.
  2. Log in to your https://www.redpocket.com/ account
  3. Make sure you have Port Blocker disabled.
  4. Open a chat session with the CSR. Once you finish the basic auth (phone number, email, etc), let them know that you are going to place a port out request.
  5. Now request the Metro CSR (on phone) to submit and immediately let the Redpocket CSG (on chat) manually approve the port-out request.
This will get you past the current hurdle that you are encountering. Let me know if this works. Cheers!

Metro phones came activated correct? I mean, is not necessary open box to do it or yes?
On the first line you need to open the box to get the 2fa code they send to log in.

what if I switch to the lowest $25/month plan after the first 3 months? it would not be allowed? I guess in that case I just cancel the service and use it only on wifi
I wonder if you call and ask to cancel service would they offer you the cheaper plan and waive the $50 fee to downgrade.. anyone tried it?

BTW on my iphone 13 i just stopped paying service for like 6 months and i was able to reactivate it on the $30 plan.. which can be $25 on the future months with auto pay. So i even wonder maybe if you just don't pay your bill for a month can you restart as byod like i did.

Thank you for this suggestion. I was on Metro chat instead. Red Pocket definitely makes this process harder than it should be.

Thanks for your sharing. I managed to transfer to Metro by using number from another carrier. I think my issue come from Red Pocket, I won't use their service again.

I have ported successfully from US mobile but they can give you a hard time if you just signed up.

kind of weird question, but i ported in my number and used that same number as my login id

if i dont pay anymore, i will lose access to that number in a month. presumably i will also lose access to my account and wont be able to log in anymore after that

is that normal? will it affect the 1-year unlock
