I have replaced my i9-13900K with them THREE TIMES now first in 9/17/2024, again in 5/22/2025, and now again in 11/25/25. This is AFTER doing Intel's recommended BIOS update and changing BIOS settings to Intel base settings + performance mode.
In their defense, Intel did upgrade my i9 from i9-13900K to i9-14900K for free as a replacement but this is getting ridiculous. I've paid in total maybe $60.00 in shipping, $40 in thermal paste, not including the time it takes to gut another i9 from another workstation and replace it into my personal PC over and over, and the countless hours troubleshooting to make sure it wasn't something else.
This problem was reported back in 2023 and Intel was adamant it was not their fault until it was proven by YouTubers and data analysts that it is INTEL's FAULT. They only officially recognized their error in late 2024 but by then ALL i9 CPUs had already taken irreversible damage and begun degrading. (https://www.tomshardwar
IF you are using an i9 currently and experiencing (usually) windows related problems i.e. library slow downs, freezes, unable to update drivers, folder errors, menu errors, etc. these are signs that your i9 has already begun degrading.
Depending if you bought your CPU as BOXED (separately like from Micro-Center) or BATCHED (pre-built in a PC like CyberPowerPC) contact warranty and let them know. BOXED buyers report straight to Intel with receipt and serial number. BATCHED buyers must go through the original builder who will request receipt and serial number also. Intel has EXTENDED WARRANTY BY 3-YEARS due to their foul up.
Note you cannot warranty without a serial number so yes, you will need to dismount your CPU and take a photo of the serial code in the front. The return process is somewhat fast. Maybe 1-2 weeks on average by my experience.
