Any pros to this over Bitwarden apart from better UI?

They know their software is really good so they hook you in with a little deal like this and then you're stuck. They never give us existing subscribers a break. I dread the day that they will bump prices and I have to switch to some alternative.

When I did a side by side test last year, Bitwarden was a lot worse at autofill on mobile. Core functionality is pretty comparable, just lots of little convenience use cases where 1pw does a better job.

I've received some $$ off my annual renewal every year as an existing member simply from sending a quick, friendly message to customer service to ask if any discounts are available.
I've contacted customer service the last few years around Black Friday, asking if they had any discounts for existing subscribers. That got us $15 off the Family sub in 2022, nothing offered since. They drop the same boilerplate about saving money by paying annually, being a student, and a couple other business-related breaks. We already pay annually, none of the rest apply. This year they followed up by saying we could cancel and sign up a new account to get this sale price--and then be on the hook for this latest price increase once that expires.

I still own the "lifetime subscription" and consider myself very lucky. They kept trying to entice me to convert to the subscription service but I refused. That was ~5 years ago.
I paid for a lifetime subscription, then they kept reducing the number of devices. I switched to Bitwarden.

What does this do that bitwarden doesnt? Bitwarden is free and open source. Genuinely curious if there's any benefit to paying for this because I've been plenty happy with bitwarden for years now

Is it easy to switch passwords from Google to Lastpass? Easy to switch out of Lastpass ?
Switching from lastpass to 1Password was incredibly easy, I think all or most of these services allow you to download your passwords in a format that uploads to other services easily but I did this a couple years ago after the lastpass data breach and at least at that time it was super easy. Was before passkeys as I recall so I don't know how those port over

My poor ass don't have to worry about getting hacked. Even if they do hack me, all they going to see is debt anyways, jokes on them lmaoooo
Debt doesn't matter. Identity theft does. You're focusing on the wrong consequences or lack thereof.

1password is weak with Android phones. It is definitely not a seamless integration.
Bulls***! 1password works great on a One Plus phone (oxygen OS).

The biggest issue is having my data in the cloud. I just want a password manager that syncs locally with my PC. I don't need autofill, I just need to be able to look up data.
You can host a Bitwarden compatible server on your local network (check the vaultwarden docker image). Other than that KeepassXC is also pretty good, saves your vault as a single file. Back up however you want.

Anyone have experience using or thoughts on Proton Pass vs 1Password?
I am having issues with 1Password on android with it not auto filling even though it pops up showing i have a password to auto fill with. Also sometimes my search box in 1Password on android doesnt work, it wont type letters until I go back to the home screen. Does anyone else have these issues on 1password android app?
The 1 thing I like about 1Password is that you can add unlimited items under an object. So for example if I create a login in 1password for Expedia, it will have the username, password and website address, but I can also add another URL if there are multiple domains or urls for the site but also i can add another password field for secret questions, add another password field for PIN, you can add another password field for recovery codes or whatever you want to add. And it is all under the one listing on 1password. (The reason I add them as password fields vs just putting in the notes section is firstly so they are hidden with dots when you view the listing on 1password but also because you can just click it to copy it vs having to highlight the text and copy. When I tried BitWarden it was limited to only being able to add a single password item to each login listing.
I have been using the standalone 1Password V4 for years; didn't want to be forced into a subscription and not too comfortable with putting everything in the cloud (yet). The password manager part still works fine but the browser extension is no longer accepted by recent browsersFrown I came across some recommendations on Proton Pass recently and started to experiment with it. I was able import most if not everything in my 1Password vault into Proton Pass with just some touchup on a few items afterward. Proton Pass has been working out well for me so far. The autofill function is not perfect but 1Password has its quirks too. I think you can add unlimited number of fields under an object in Proton Pass such as a date, a text field, a hidden field (password?), TOTP, etc. You can sign up for the free version of Proton Pass to test drive it for as long as you like before committing any $.
TLDR, I like it enough that I switched from an annual pass (refunded) to a lifetime pass!Wink

And looks like that day has come. I keep wondering if it'd be a huge pain to just start a new account and migrate my existing vault over.
