No ultimate 3 and not announcement of an ultimate 3.
The 2c does have 2 different versions and only one will work with switch.
The ultimate 2 wireless (not switch version) will work with the switch if you update both the controller and dongle to the beta firmware. Must use dongle and gyro is confirmed to work. However you will have the xbox layout.
Pros and cons too both.

I recently bought the Ultimate 2 Wireless for gyro controls and gaming in Steam and I like it quite a bit. However, I'm waiting for the Steam Controller 2 which I expect will be an major, huge upgrade over anything else I've used so far.

I don't need, my 5 year old controller is fine, but for some reason I bought it.
I would wait for the 3, the 2 is not great at the same price.
