A lot of people are going to be critical about using spline sockets on hex fasteners, but when torque test channel tested that scenario spline sockets ended up doing quite well.

They're for really tight spaces with very little maneuverability, like an engine bay.

Or fasteners with too much sticking past what you need to tighten for a deep socket, like a long bolt or all thread. Useful in some situations, but not daily for most of us.

Gearwrench sells a better set more sockets two extensions and a case. In metric it only goes to 13mm and standard 9/16. I thought this would be a bit gimmicky, but I find myself using it all the time

Cheapest for Gearwrench passthru on Slickdeals was $55. Comes with a case but less pieces than this set.

I almost always use a ratcheting combination wrench, but I have the SATA set of these.

if you work on vehicles this is very handy. i find it most useful for swaybar links, struts, exhaust manifold studs (with nuts) etc.

it allows you to put a 1/4 deepwell socket thru the hole to hold a shaft/stud, etc.

Very handy set of thru-sockets but it really should come with a case. The cheap plastic rails don't retain the sockets well. I managed to lose one of my sockets because of it. I reached out to Crescent and told them what happened and they couldn't send me just a single replacement socket. Instead they sent me a whole new replacement set. Awesome. But yes, look for a carry case to keep them secure.
