It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

At any point did it ask for your DOB to verify after submitting your password. And once you did, did they email you a "Your Xfinity ID is now linked to another Xfinity account"? Trying to submit order after but getting a "We're sorry" screen and prompting me to contact them.
I'm having the same issue, did you solve it?

Great thanks! I'm actually chatting with them as we speak LOL.
My wife and I were in the same boat. We just bought a new construction home with no exiting lines to the house. What I did was the following (although how it evolved was unplanned and unintentional): If you choose 1-year 1-Gig option (that is, NOT the 5-year option that everyone is talking about here), the "professional installation" by Comcast/Xfinity tech will be available for free. When I placed my order, the 5-year promotion did not begin yet. I placed an order for the 1-year, 1-Gig plan ($50/month). The tech came out to install everything for free. The tech brought all of the necessary equipment too, including the modem-router combo machine. It was very convenient, and the tech knew exactly what to do. A couple of days after the installation, I noticed this 5-year fixed price ($50/month) promotion. I contacted Xfinity/Comcast via online chat. I asked to chat with a live agent. (The fastest way, by the way, is to go to "billing" tab/section, and ask for a chat with an agent). I explained the situation and asked whether he/she could switch my 1-year plan to the new 5-year promotion plan, keeping everything else the same. The agent was more than happy to simply make the switch for me. Hope this is helpful to some folks.

Ummm huh?!?
Plenty of companies do offer fiber to the home. We used to live in an area with Sonic as a provider, Verizon has FIOS, and, yes, in some (but not most) areas, AT&T does offer it.

Unfortunately, at my current address (and I own, so this isn't changing anytime soon) Comcast is literally my only wired option. They suck so bad.

Since everyone's asking this question over and over. Q: How to sign up as a "new" customer when you're actually NOT a new customer.Use someone else's info1 Name - Wife? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Child? Dog? Cat? Mother? Father?2 Email - DIFFERENT email from the account you're moving from. Gmail? Yahoo? Outlook? etc.3 Phone - DIFFERENT phone from the account you're moving from. This phone needs to be able to receive text messages for sign in creds to the xfinity app. Wife's phone? ... see list of other options above for more ideas. Now this may be YMMV but if you go instore to an xfinity shop they can help you do this. That's how I did it, my dude actually advised me to use my wife's first and middle name to super extra fool the system. There's no credit check, no SS number, nothing to verify the person signing up is who they say they are and the bill can be paid by anyone so the name doesn't matter.Did any of you that signed up last year for the 2 gig plan end up with the total being under $50 a month for that plan? I don't know how but that's what I ended up with on a 2nd address I provide internet to.
I agree I did the same thing but I didn't even go to the store ..I was having difficulty signing up online on my wife name so online chat person executed the order ..no issues. No credit check either

For existing account I called and told them I'm moving out as we getting separated 😜

Can you use your own router with XFinity or do you have to rent theirs -- even if it's no extra charge?

you can set the xfinity modem/router to bridge mode and use your router. works well and their moden/router included a 2.5gb port so no bottleneck.

Yes - I have mine setup like that. I had it like that with att fiber as well.

There is an option in the router gateway page for "bridge" mode which will disable the routing function of the gateway and make it just a modem.

Here official help topic: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ridge-mode

I set the xfinity modem to bridge mode and use my router. no issues.... the xfinity modem/router also has a 2.5 gb port so no bottlenecks to your router.
