It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

The answer to that is how long are you ready to wait for the old account to be automatically cancelled and ready to pay for 2 accounts! Based on past experience, they will call you to confirm cancellation of your account.

I placed order on 03Dec and old account did not get canceled yet even though I received email on 04Dec itself that they recieved my cancellation request. I am calling to cancel old account. Tried chat and they said they cannot cancel via chat.

my gateway was shipped next day and I received model cgm4981com. As for cancellation of existing account, I got notification about account cancellation but date was not specified. I dropped off the old modem at comcast store and asked the rep to make sure it got cancelled. Before cancellation, there were 2 accounts that I can select for logging in. After cancellation, there's only one account to "Logout".

I just moved last month to a location that only offers Xfinity and was paying slightly more for a 5 year guarantee (1 Gig at $65/mo) with similar 2 year peacock and $50 gift card and mobile line for 1 year included (literally signed up on Nov 5, 2025). I logged in to try to Manage my Plan and it offered me the 1 Gig $50/mo price and let me go through with the order. It looks like it will give me a discount starting next month and pay me back for the difference for this month based on Upcoming Charges.
Unsure if this is a special case given how close in time my initial activation was, but perhaps current subscribers can give it a shot if you recently started service? Just providing a data point for consideration!
