There are comments in Aliexpress saying fake

"They gave me a fake one fedex tracking number. Claimed to have shipped. This store is not to be trusted."

It appears there are more DJI drones on the market than buyers and with an upcoming deadline with conditions unknown, I can see minimizing some of the risks and unloading as much inventory for now....only to substantially raise the prices later if you have to. Maybe there are sellers who are artificially dropping the price with no intentions to sell the drone but trying to impact the market prices.

Personally I would not buy a drone from Aliexpress. I buy stuff routinely from them, but generally stuff under $100. On one item it was never delivered (multiple months) and they denied all my claims for my money back. I eventually had to do a chargeback. It blew my mind that I could have hundreds of orders with no issue but then they would hassle me about one item. I changed my buying habits on Ali after that.

Never mind, it's not important.

Fixed it for you; one word makes all the difference to the context.

I risked ordering from these guys a month ago during BF, they took the payment immediately and have yet to ship the drone. when pressed for a date, they first said it was shipped and gave me a fake tracking number and then when I called them out on it - they said pls wait "2-3 days friend" and this was 2 weeks ago. despite practically daily followups - there has been zero progress.. now I'm trying to just get my money back. I would stay away unless you feel adventurous getting a good deal and don't mind tying up your money for 2 months.

As of December 9, 2025, DJI drones are not yet banned in the United States, but a federal ban is imminent unless a national security audit is initiated by the deadline of December 23, 2025.
The 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) mandates that a U.S. national security agency complete a formal audit of DJI by this date; if no audit is conducted, DJI will be automatically added to the FCC Covered List, triggering a ban on new imports, sales, and authorizations.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has already voted to strengthen its authority to enforce such bans, including the power to retroactively restrict previously approved devices and block subsidiaries or shell brands used to circumvent the ban.
Current Status: DJI drones remain legal to own and operate in the U.S. Existing drones will not be disabled or grounded, and recreational and commercial pilots can continue flying their current models.
However, the future of new DJI products is uncertain, with no new models being officially released in the U.S. market due to regulatory uncertainty.
Upcoming Deadline: The December 23, 2025, deadline for the audit is now less than two weeks away. As of December 2025, no federal agency has formally scheduled or begun the required security review, increasing the likelihood of an automatic ban.
DJI has publicly urged the government to initiate the audit, stating it is willing to cooperate and has "nothing to hide".
Potential Impact: If DJI is added to the FCC Covered List, new DJI drones will be blocked from import and sale, and future firmware updates, repairs, and parts may be restricted or delayed.
The ban could also extend to third-party resellers and shell brands attempting to bypass the restriction.
This would significantly affect industries like agriculture, where DJI drones are widely used for precision farming, and could lead to equipment shortages and higher costs.
Broader Context: The U.S. government has long expressed concerns about data security and potential ties between DJI and the Chinese government, though DJI denies any data sharing with foreign entities.
The FCC's recent actions signal a clear path toward enforcing a ban if the audit deadline is missed.
While no official ban has been enacted yet, the situation is rapidly approaching a critical point.

Yeah it's a crap shooting ordering drones from AliExpress, I would certainly stick with eBay where the sellers are known to be reputable.
