That does not have the controller app built in, so you need a cloud key to control it. Any thing start with UXG needs a cloud key. UCG has the controller built in

U6 Enterprise (non-wall) is a new addition from the Black Friday sale. The 4x4 antennas on 5G & 6G is unmatched by any of their non-top end WiFi7 equipment. I'd buy this vs any of the WiFi 7 offerings

Absent from the holiday-offer page itself is the Cloud Gateway Max with 512GB SSD for $179 (regularly $279), and cheaper than the No Storage option that's still $199:

Given a 512GB NVME SSD costs ~$80 today, that's only about $100 for the UCG-Max itself.

I feel ubiquiti in general needs to increase the range for all there products. I recently switched to UDR7 and it covers exactly the same compared to my 12 year old Asus router. In fact I had to add an access point for better coverage.
I can confirm that my UI setup requires more AP's than ASUS routers...many many installs confirms this. It's my one gripe about UI APs. LR = bwahahaha.
Still, unifi is great for my and most client's deployment needs.

Biggest coverage you could get is probably from the pro 7 outdoor. The dB for the antenna gain is much higher with a higher max power for the 6 gHz band. Someone can correct me but I believe that's how you can "quickly" compare Access points and coverage. I think that's having a 2 x 2 radio vs 4 x 4 just means that's you're more likely to saturate your wireless connection when devices connect.
Are there any issues using the pro 7 outdoor inside the house as an access point? Also can this be run with UDR7?

Wish this happened sooner before I went all in with TP-Link and got 4x 783s.

Could be wrong but I noticed:Enterprise has Bluetooth for the iot stuffEnterprise in wall for same price has 4 port switch with 1 poe pass through. 7 has a bit more range and a fan, I'm not sure if the 6 has a fan.4x4 unlikely to be beneficial to most home users, I probably wouldn't base it off that.
I don't think any of the 6's had a fan maybe I'm wrong. When I speak about 4x4 Im specifically talking about beamforming and it's ability to possibly penetrate walls a little better but yeah maybe I should save $50 and go with the u7 pro idk

My devices randomly drop sometimes when upstairs further away

For Ubiquity fans and home lab enthusiasts:

What y'all's home set ups are like?

Wifi Access point + switch + ...

What do y'all have?

I just have a regular Wifi6 Asus Wifi router with Merlin and was thinking about upgrading to something more advanced with separate devices because I want to add NAS + NVR//Cameras + Home Assistant stuff/IOTs to my home.
  • Dream Machine Pro
  • 8-port Ubiquiti 10gig Aggregation Switch
  • WAN on the DMP is ran over CAT7 to a RJ45 SFP+ module (cause I can't hook straight into my XGS-PON fiber yet)
  • 4 Unifi Access points around the house - one outdoors in the backyard. Mix of wifi 6 and AC - thinking of getting a 7 Pro XG or two.
  • 5gbps/5gbps symmetrical fiber service

I had my old Asus RT-AC5300 running Merlin at my moms ~1400sq ft. Worked great. Upgraded her to Dream Router 7 from the last sale.. mainly bc of the Asus vulnerabilities and Merlin no longer updating for her router. Also, it has my off-site NAS backup and Merlin only had support OpenVPN and the upgrade to WireGuard was well worth it.

Separate devices really lets you build to your needs over time. I was going to add my old U6 Lite AP since there's POE, but the DR7 has surprisingly had great coverage.

At my home I still have old Edge line (ER-4 and ES-24 PoE) and will be phasing it out soon. It's running U6Pro and U6Lite. I just ordered a U7Pro hoping for a v2.

For Ubiquiti fans, there are some decent offers on this sale.

U7-Pro for $149

I don't need it. But I want it

I'm sticking to my U6 Pro. The U7 Pro has a fan...

From my research this is the right answer... Just got a U6 Pro over a U7 Pro, didn't want to deal with the heat aspect.

If you need wifi7, U7 Pro XG is the one you want.

interesting deals… I bought all my stuff during Black Friday, no real sales tbh apart from free shipping.

I bought the UGC-Fiber since I didn't want to get cloud key or self host with the UGX-Fiber.

I bought the Switch Pro XG 8 POE since I wanted the 10GbE and POE++.

I bought the U7 Pro XG. At the time it was $10 more than the regular pro and, from what I read, there was issues with that model. Additionally, the Pro XG has a better, more future-proof design (cooling).
