Grabbed one as backup. Most useful immediately is the USB C dangle. Lol... Also did no rush shipping for $2 credit. Hope its a decent drive.

Cheap crap that might work once but yeah I hear you. Cutting edge stuff 25 years ago.

Interestingly the LG Blu-Ray RW internal drives seem to have gone out of production, I got one for like $50 in 2021 for a HTPC build, but now they are $150-$200 from 3rd party retailers.

I wish the people in my immediate circle would buy this so they didn't have to borrow mine.

my first CD burner in late 90's was over $500 or $600 for a black friday sale. i forget the exact year. that is approximately $1,100-$1,200 in today's dollars

if someone from the future told me back then, that one day CD burners would be $2.50 ($5 in today's dollars), i would think that person was on crack

back to the product itself - the reviews are a bit concerning. usually these are plug-n-play. plug them in, and they show up as a CD/DVD drive in My Computer. there are reviews stating that it can't be recognized on Windows 11 computers.
for anyone who has this - what has your experience been?

Oh yeah? I remember using a hole punch on a SS 5.25" floppy to be able to write on the other side, making it a DS hack for free. Get off my lawn! 😂

Might be a good opportunity to buy some as stocking stuffers. 🙂

Useful for when you check out a movie on DVD from the library and... uh... 'back it up' to your network so you can return the movie quickly, allowing someone else to borrow it sooner.

Yeah.
