I saw this TCL QM8K in person at bestbuy a few days ago and was very impressed. It could be mistakened for an OLED. Have my eyes on a 85" QM8K..waiting for the right price..

This is an absolutely fantastic television. I got an open box excellent 75" from BB for a little less than this a few weeks ago and I have been loving it. After having burn in issues with 2 high end LG OLED's I needed something where I wouldn't have to worry about that, and so far this panel is delivering in a big way.

The B2 LG 65" OLED at BB is $100 less. Is this QM8K better than the OLED? We have a dark room. Thanks
It comes down to dark vs bright room. If ur room isnt dark, skip oled

What's the storage size? I looked at the TCL website I didn't see this listed in the specs.

Have had this tv for a week now. Blacks are incredible on it, I legitimately think it's turned off if the screen is on a black image. Lot of image settings need to be adjusted but it's worth the dive.

Have an older QM8 from a few years ago. For my BRIGHT living room it's substantially better than the Sony OLED I had. Great television for this price.

looking for a replacement for my outgoing 1080P LG Plasma (no laughing pls)
Was considering the LG Oled 4k for $900

Is this a better deal and buy for a 65" - any recommendations greatly appreciated

Yes it can. I returned a 83 inch LG G4 flagship OLED and bought the 98QM8K because the blacks were so close but the TCL destroyed the OLED in HDR brightness. The additional size at a lower price makes it a no brainer.

Have owned this 65" QM8K for about 6-7 weeks or so. Excellent miniLED. Upgraded from the QM751G, and the Crystglow WHVA panel is a nice upgrade. Still not NEAR OLED viewing angles, but very good for a VA panel, and that glossy coating is amazing for black levels, giving it "close" to that OLED "wet look", or "3D effect". I have a 97" LG G2 OLED downstairs, and this in the bedroom, and watching sports and Netflix Dolby Vision (Alice in Borderland season 3 and Bloodhounds finished recently), they both have excellent HDR, but the TCL is noticeably brighter for highlights. If you don't go OLED, can absolutely recommend this set.

Also, I owned two Hisense's before (Roku 2021 model with FALD, and U7K for a few weeks, miniLED), and BY FAR, TCL is better. Hisense only does reflection handling better, but black levels, panel motion for gaming, blooming being more controlled, etc... TCL tops Hisense when it comes to these brands.

I bought the 5series pro variant from Costco (65"). Microled. It's a great tv. Looks fantastic. Google tv works very well.

Embarrassingly my 75" $1700 Samsung isn't as nice as this $450 bedroom tv.

Like others, I bought this for $100 less during BF/CM. Stunning pictures and the extremely bright display (at high brightness settings obviously) works fantastic in my south facing room that gets direct sunlight. I used the RTINGS picture settings as a baseline and tweaked from there.

The Hisense U7K is a couple of generations older and one tier lower than this TV and not a fair comparison.

I ordered the 85" for $1800 from Best Buy just before Thanksgiving and was finally able to pick it up last week. I'm not really a TV aficionado, but the pictures quality is awesome. The black level and uniformity looks an awful lot like OLED to me.

One of the first things I did though was install Projectivy Launcher. The stock launcher has way too many ads for my taste. There was also an OS update on first boot that updated it to Android 14. That update also includes Gemini, which I have zero interest in using. Although going through the various AI voices that you can choose from was kind of funny, because the last few are overly sensual, for some reason...

Gone at Amazon, but BestBuy has them at the same price.

Other sizes are also on sale and available at Amazon and Walmart if you prefer.
