As some one who uses airtag and third party tags like bestbuy insignia, I can honestly say that there is not much difference in tracking. They are both as good or as bad at times. They both lag in updates. Sometimes, both of them refuse to update location for hours even in populated areas like a school. I will not waste more money on apple airtags, if i really need one, i will just go and get the off brand one like the insignia which was only $12.99 for 4 not long ago.

I've got some Apple products but an Android phone. I put an AirTag on my Airpods and my phone keeps telling me that someone else's tracker is traveling with me. It won't let me link an AirTag to an Android phone.
