I used this deal last year and plan to use it again this year. Last year, I was able to complete and file my return using the desktop version of the website, and I was also able to submit my return after the deadline stated in the deal. Everything appears to be behaving the same way this year, so I'm posting the steps I used to get around the mobile app requirement.
Step 1: Start your return in the mobile app. Step 2: In the app, upgrade TurboTax to whatever level you need. In my case, I needed Premium and a state return. To trigger the Premium upgrade, I went to the Income section and attempted to add rental income, then started my state return. Step 3: In the app, go to the File tab and proceed to Step 1, where it asks you to pay. Make sure all the upgrades you want (e.g., Premium and State) are included and showing as free. If everything looks correct, proceed to checkout. Once completed, you should receive a confirmation email. At this point, you should be able to open the desktop version of the website and continue working on your taxes there. Finally, if things work the same way as last year, as long as you complete the checkout process described above before February 28, you should still be able to submit your return after that date. |

I did. Unfortunately, it wasn't offered in my state during the pilot program. And didn't it also have some sort of income limit too?

I have used TT for years, but my personal computers are getting too old for Windows 11, so I'll just do it on the web version. Not preferred but not the end of the world. And as an FYI for those looking for Schedule E for rentals, TT Deluxe works fine, they just always upsell you for Premier bc they are greedy dirtbags. I stick with them bc for some reason one year like 8 years ago TT gave me like $400 more back than TaxAct/H&R, so in my mind I think they are better, but in reality they're all crooked.

You're eligible for this offer when you start and file your taxes in the TurboTax or Credit Karma mobile app by February 28. If you switch to doing your taxes using a web browser instead of the app, we'll show you a reminder that you must file in the app to redeem the offer. If you choose not to file in the app, the cost of TurboTax will go back to regular pricing, which is based on your tax situation.
So you just have to start with the app and move to web to do everything, then when it comes to actually filing, just go back to phone and hit submit.
