Many people seem to be reporting battery degradation on these phones? Is that really a thing for a phone which may not even be 2 years old?

Buy from amazon.com(seller) if you can. It makes resolving issues much simpler, and that's the main reason most people get Renewed Premium to begin with.

Bought one last time and the battery was replaced with over 90% health. I think you have a year to return it if you don't like it.

First iPhone for me in many years and after many One Plus and Samsung phones. Bought it two years ago and have not found any reason to get rid of it and go back to Android... I do have an android tablet that I use* The texting system sucks on iPhones though. I use the iPhone heavily for gaming along with Viture Pros. I will veg out on the couch for hours at a time playing iOS games, most of which are on android too but the battery life, performance, etc, no reason to go back, yet. Love apple car play too.

The Renewed Premium with Amazon as the seller is an almost zero risk purchase.
I have bought 2 as gifts for family and the phones were in like-new condition.
Yes, you pay a little more but the assurance of a smooth transaction is worth it.
Now if it were for me, I would probably roll the dice on a cheaper alternative but if it is a gift for a loved one this is the way to go.
