Can the PSU be upgraded? I like the chassis and with current custom prices being out of reach, I'd like to make this my gaming PC.
To make this game ready, once you upgrade the PSU, RAM and the video card, it'll bump the price to the territory of the IBUYPOWER deals they have had at Best Buy and Walmart.

Well yeah, if you buy a computer then replace most of the computer it will be expensive. I do know that 780m can do plenty of gaming. It's about as fast as a gtx 1050. There are plenty of older games and indie games that can be played with that iGPU. You could also use emulation for a ton of games with batocera/retrobat. 16gb of ram should be plenty for most folks. I don't know why you would want to needlessly upgrade. You also don't need a big honking GPU. Just get a board powered GPU, and upgrade the PSU and GPU down the line.

10 years ago maybe. AMD leads the gaming CPU market in both performance and value ATM.

I bought something similar to this and run a 2nd power supply to power only the GPU and this automatic switch that turns both on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F9WG..._title_0_0

this is good unless you want to throw in a video card. the PSU is 280w and proprietary and cannot be easily swapped out. it's a good deal if you want to keep it exactly as is

I saw this in Costco in person. These have open holes on the left side for air intake (similar to old eMachines desktops). No dust filters so it will need to be opened up at least once a year and vacuum (or blow out )the insides and fans.

Functionally, no. It's a proprietary, non-ATX PSU. Someone mentioned rigging up a second power supply to run an addon GPU, But why? That's ridiculous when you can just build a proper PC. You're better off transplanting the CPU, RAM and memory into a case with an ATX power supply and decent mobo.

If you really need to upgrade to a dedicated GPU, don't get this. You're better off with a desktop and case that's ATX-specced.

Looks like the L57253-003 / L36049-003 for 650w and L05757-800 / 901759-013 for the 500w PSU's

You'll have to measure to confirm dimensions and make sure they have the appropriate connectors needed prior to ordering.

They're a proprietary PSU but nearly all HP desktops can be upgraded somewhat, I found mine on eBay.

Picked one up yesterday and earned an additional 20% back in points after taking out a store card. Used the $10 free GC to pick up a display cable to HDMI for another $1. Thanks OP and repped

8700G is a nice cpu iGPU combo actually. Just leave it as is.

this is a PC for someone who just wants to use facebook and surf porn
sorry its trash with a proprietary Power supply and weird case design its a dead end with zero upgrades
you would be better served buying ONE nice case as big as you can stand in your office/space you plan to use this, and the biggest power supply you can afford so you have upgrade room later. I would not buy anything smaller than a 1200 watt gold rated psu fully modular so its pretty much able to run anything, and even then there are rigs that need more power if you start running dual cards. a cooler master full or HAF mid size case can be had under 110 bucks and offers excellent cooling air flow and filters on most of the better ones, has room to run a full size ATX board or a micro because smaller fits in bigger but not the other way around.
then its just a matter of picking the board/processor you want and as much ram as you can pay for that fits that board. DDR5 has more waves in prices than the surf off Maui so your mileage may vary on what you pay for DDR 5
