I was able to snag one of these from HD a few days ago (although its been delayed for a day in shipping???). At only $88 after military discount, I just couldn't pass it up. Seems to have a perfectly adequate selection of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" sockets, in standard and deep, in SAE and Metric (and star/hex!). Then just the right combo of useful accessories (extensions, adapters, universal joints, etc). Even the long hex key sets will be very useful. And no fillers like endless bit sets to pump up the piece count. The only thing I can't see easily from the pics is the quality and readability of the "Hand stamped markings". Hopefully the fact that they make special mention of that feature will mean the markings are nice and big for those of us with old-eyes syndrome...
I went to college for automotive and have worked professionally for about 3 years now in dealerships. This is a decent set to start off with or just use at home. I am considering picking one of these up. Usually they fill them up with bits and junk you don't need but this has a nice mix of extensions and adapters. The swivel adapters are nice to see, you can wrap them with a bit of electrical tape to get some rigidity out of them but still able to flex.

I've had a similar set for 11 years, works great, only con I'd say is the plastic case is a bit annoying, some bits can fall out some times and some are really stuck in there. I got rid of the case and put it in a 3 drawer metal tool box. Also it has some torx sockets but if you're working on a german car you'll need more torx sockets then these dewalt kits come with.
