You can get managed 1gb switches nowadays cheaper than this. Don't buy dumb switches.

After reading your reply, I went ahead and checked Amazon. I could not find any managed gigabit switch below $20.
Considering this switch provides 8 port, I think it has a good value.

There are some no-name ones for cheap.
Example: https://www.amazon.com/Managed-Et...0F5G9HW2Q/
$8.99 for 5 port. $15.99 for 8 port.
I should add that I'd rather pay a few dollars more for a brand I recognize.

I was recently needing a managed switch but I ended up going with the $21 Netgear GS108E. Perhaps the others are good, but I'd rather pay a little more for one from a known name brand. I will likely never need another managed switch (famous last words, haha) so I might as well get a nicer one and be done with it.

This is ultimately what I ended up going with. I've only had it 2 weeks but I'm happy with it. My first time setting something like this up. Had some help from Chatgtp, and it only took a few minutes.

I bought the managed version pointed above, but had difficulty making the Asus router/node AImesh work through it (even with default non VLAN settings). From the research the mesh system may already be using some VLANs so had to some configuration for VLAN tags (that every mesh may have different one), but couldn't make it to work. Eventually gave up and went with a dumb switch which worked without issues as it simply forwards all IP packages without any changes to existing VLAN tags. Also if the mesh have guest/IOT separate wifi networks then that also needs to be configured through managed switch.

While I understand the benefits of the managed switch, I'd be using this for my living room home entertainment equipment.
Tv. Ps5. Sonos bar. Sonos connect amp. Apple TV. A 5 port just can't handle it.

I think this is one of the better budget options.

This isn't behavior one should depend on. SOME unmanaged switches may pass traffic with VLAN tags intact but others may not. They might strip the tags or drop the packets all together.

If you were trying to connect multiple devices that pass data for more than one VLAN, you should probably have configured the ports on the managed router as trunk lines carrying 802.1Q tagged traffic for the necessary VLANs. Sending tagged traffic to ports not designed/configured to deal with it can have unexpected and inconsistent results.
