Interesting Amazon won't state how the joule rating on this "surge protector" lol

Google search states this strip offers 1710 joule surge protection

I'd say it's good for a guest room or something where you're not devastated if you lose an electronic item due to power surge.

You're paying for the smart feature. How many devices in the same room will you need to remotely access? Given the protection rating, I'm not seeing much use for myself.

If I were to buy this, I'd probably put it in the kitchen. So I could hook up dumb appliances like a coffee maker turn on the switch and have it cut on whenever I wanted to. You have to be very careful though about what you tried to plug in and make smart if you were to try to do that

If you mean, "Does this device slowly draw power when all of the things plugged into it are turned off?", then yes. It will draw some power for itself when everything plugged into it is powered off since it has to maintain a network(WiFi) connection for all of the smart features.

I just bought one of these, which just arrived and just bought a couple more. If you use home assistant, you should be able to control it through matter directly, meaning you don't really need to register a tapo account (except for firmware updates). I was able to create dashboards on power usage using influxdb, and you should be able to set automations, like one outlet having a low power draw (like a PC in sleep mode) automatically turning off nearby devices like a monitor).

This works great in my office. I have it controlling my cable modem, router and floor lamp. I have the smart strip lets me schedule a weekly restart on the modem and router. Floor lamp runs from dusk to dawn and adjusts to the earlier dusk times during winter which is nice. Each outlet can have their own schedule.

If you use Apple Homekit, the TP-Link Tapo power strip is the same price. It's also Matter compatible, and compatible with all the same services as this one, which makes it a better deal overall.

Good deal, kasa is great I have them all over the house , never tried this six outlet strip I wonder if it would be of use though.

Found this information on Amazon by a customer. Haven't checked the accuracy of the statement.
"According to an article on pcmag dot com, this Search term:surge Search term:protector offers 1,710 Search term:joules of protection. Google search for "HS300 Search term:joules pcmag" and it should be the first result. Hope this helps, as I had the same question but couldn't find a good answer.
