I've been watching this for months and it has basically been this price the entire time.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank uh-niece

After being part of the r/HomeLab and many other subreddits for quite some time. The consensus is that GL.iNet makes the gold standard of travel routers in every price range. Every Youtuber who reviews travel routers always comes back to GL.iNet routers for travel as well.

Disclaimer: I do not own a travel router, but have a TP-Link home Wi-Fi 7 router and would not hesitate to buy the one posted here if I were in the market (which I may be soon)

So then based on your comment, this appears to be a decent alternative to this post with the exception of not being WiFi6 - so 5GHz speeds will be a tad slower.

I have the TPLink decos mesh routers at home and love them. They work flawlessly. Would like more admin controls within the app but overall it does everything I need and has been reliable for years.

I bought this without hesitation, excepting the same ease of use and reliability but it did not deliver. When traveling it would work for 1 hour before I would have to unplug and turn it back in. Then 1 hour later the same thing. I tried factory resetting, different hotels WiFi networks, and the firmware updates (I should mention I am technically competent) but nothing worked. I returned it and bought the GL.iNet and love the thing. It's been rock solid and does everything I need it do. It's a bit more complicated to setup and the menus presented are more advanced (which I appreciate) but others might be a little overwhelmed.

Maybe I got a dud but honestly the GL.iNet is worth the extra cost.

Bought this in Sept 2024 for this price. Always in my travel bag.

I've had a old TP-Link AC750 for about 6 years now. It's great when it works, but echo the sentiment of other TP-Link users that when it doesn't work or stops working, it's a whole multiple rounds of plugging/unplugging, factory resetting, re-setup, etc.
Looking to move to GL.iNet...
