For those who are concerned about the grooves or damaged plates.
First of all... if you use cast iron plates there's nothing to worry about.
If you use rubber plates, just buy a roll of electrical tape and wrap the 2" end pieces.
Smooth as silk afterwards and 100% protection.
Also... if you want to step it up, use a hex key allen wrench, take both ends off and grease the sleeves.
Put it back together and you've got yourself a "top of the line" Olympic bar at a bargain price.
See picture: (everything black has been wrapped with electrical tape)

That's a 1" diameter bar. You will need 1 inch hole diameter plates for that.
Like these:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-Inch...9119722583
So... Unless you already own a ton of 1 inch plates I would recommend to go with a 2" barbell/plate setup instead.
$48 for a 2" Olympic bar is a steal...
Thanks a lot..I recently purchased this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Balanc...5088251304 which is 2" so I suppose this deal suits my need

I have the cheapie Walmart bar that I've been using for a couple months now, and it's been fine except the lack of knurling is annoying me (basically, only half of my hand is on the knurled part when benching). I was thinking of stepping up to something better and took a look at York Barbell, since they are only about 40 minutes away from me. I couldn't believe that they have a 7' Olympic bar for nearly $700! And that's a discounted price. They have cheaper ones, obviously, but that's incredible. I'm sure it's amazing and can handle 3/4 of a ton of weight but wow! I haven't spent that much on my entire setup so far.
I agree... $700 for a Olympic bar is ridiculous.
You can get a professional bar with decent knurling and smooth bronze bushings for around $200 bucks.

They never stopped. The cast iron/rubber coated are still at the same price of ~$0.60/lb.

Would not recommend wielding as a light saber! Jokes aside, I've been meaning to get a separate bar for squads. Anyone else not like rotating their bar between bench and squat rack?
Same here. Time it took to swap plates between bars was not efficient. Bought this bar strictly for deadlifting and have another for swapping between overhead press and benching. Had to add tape to it though as the position of the knurls did not work for deadlifting. Solid bar though.

Thanks for the link.
In York's defense, they have bars that are comparable in price to the ones listed with the video (about $300). The really expensive one (here, $722: https://yorkbarbell.com/product/e...steel-bar/) is made in the U.S. with North American steel, which definitely contributes to the price. Still crazy pricing though. Check out the MSRP for a laugh.
I may actually head up there this weekend to pick up a curling bar. Their on-site prices are apparently cheaper, and I've been cooped up with the snow we had and could use a short trip!

Well...
If you really want to spend money, here's the "Lamborghini" of Olympic bars:
ELEIKO - IWF Weightlifting Competition Bar (only $1290 plus tax)
https://eleiko.com/en-us/equipmen...-20-kg-men
What a deal... LOL
But if you want something decent with even better specs than the York at a bargain price...
Get this one before it's gone (it's sold out everywhere, you can Google it)
Open box for $160:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/396984310325
20KG, 28mm, 190K PSI, 1500LB, hard coated handle bar, 2" chrome steel ends
Best of all... 10 needle bearings (5 on each side) VERY NICE!
If I didn't already own 3 Olympic bars... I would have snatched it up already.
Cheers!

Mine arrived yesterday, well worth the price. Not much of a difference between it and bars at my local gym.

Agree. I'm not a pro lifter by any means but I've bought the cheap bars. They hold up well and I can't tell the difference between those and the "pro" ones at my gym. That said I'm not pushing 500+lbs either.
The only thing I had to do on one of them was tighten the hex bolts on the endcaps of the sleeves. They were loose on arrival.
Also got these and love them. They are quick to attach and magnetic, so I can just stick them to the side of my rack when not in use.

In case someone wants a cheap barbell with bearings and 1500lb capacity...
I just posted this deal:
https://slickdeals.net/f/19153579-7ft-mikolo-2-olympic-bar-for-weight-powerlifting-45lb-1500lbs-capacity-117-99?p=182208136
Not a bad price considering the features and specs.

That is a good deal for the specs. But is anyone really pushing 1500lbs?! 🤣 Makes my joints hurt just thinking about it.
