good tool, but not exactly slick by any means. check price history and it's been hovering at $40 for quite some time, and only recently they jacked up the price over $60 to make you think you're getting a deal.

if you work on your own car, this is a good to have. It pays for itself with 1 belt change.

As an FYI, it also works well on Poly-V belt systems. Those are found on most 460 Ford's and some 7.3 diesels.

Lol I didn't know this thing existed. I just did mine with a normal box wrench which was super annoying to do since I couldn't fit a cheater bar over it. TOok a bit of muscle lol

Was thinking of getting this or something similar.

A normal socket and wrench didn't work on my car since there wasn't enough room.

Ya, pretty much the Harbor Freight one. Depends how often you do this, storage, etc.. I deal with the 48 hour rental. I rather not have such a tool I hardly use.

Purchased in 2017 for $35. Not sure why this is considered a "hot" deal … it isn't on sale. This is the normal price.

It's not even the better version, the better one has locking flex head. Sometimes it goes on sale for < $50.

Yea, true. Although it's only $40 and if it saves me from a headache on a 2011 camry, it might be worth it
Absolutely worth it, especially if you have the 2.4 liter engine. On several Toyotas of that generation you would normally have to remove the passenger front wheel to get correct access to the belt tensioner to remove the belt. With the angled approach you can get with this tool you can remove the serpentine from the top of the engine, and not have to take the freaking wheel off to access the belt tensioner to release/install the belt.

Seriously, if you only use this tool once a while, this is the best option. https://www.harborfreight.com/ser...63689.html
Hard disagree personally, but it varies a lot with each car. I got one like your link, except mine folds in half, because I wanted to save a few bucks and I 100% regret not getting one that ratchets. I have the 3/8" square hole on my tensioner but it sits at a 45 degree angle so the tool has to go in at an angle, but with that angle you get blocked by the firewall, an engine mount (plus other components), and lower suspension parts. The easiest way for me to access the tensioner with my tool is to jack up the car, remove my passenger wheel, remove the plastic covers in the wheel well and then blindly attach the tool to the tensioner with the tool partially folded at about a 120 degree angle. Had I just spent a little more on the ratcheting version I could have just loosened the belt from the top with no extra work.

Exactly this. The cheaper options might work ok on some vehicles, but this set will let you easily get the job done on practically all vehicles with spring loaded tensioners.

I was in full agreement with you until you called Project Farm "hyped influencer nonsense". That dude had built his channel on refusing any sponsorships and designing tests to eliminate as many variables as possible in a way that people can clearly see for themselves on screen, and then going a step further by organizing the information in charts. If anything, your quick dismissal of him makes me question my agreement with everything else you said.
