The only reason this could be a good deal is that, based on past experience, the tablet might come unlocked. YMMV

I've been looking into the NxtPaper devices since they popped up on my radar. A couple things one should be aware of before buying in...
TCL has used the same anemic processor on all of these NxtPaper devices and has no desire to change that. There's even a new NxtPaper tablet on Kickstarter right now and it still uses the same ancient CPU.
TCL has never sold replacement nibs for their various stylus models. Last I heard, the official word from TCL is they have no plans on changing that in the future.
Caveat emptor on this one, folks.
This was the reason I would hesitate to jump on this. TCL tablets are slow as heck like onn tablets. 6gb RAM isn't going to cut it either. The storage is abysmally slow. Things take a tad bit longer than needed to have a decent experience.
I got the 10" deal from last month. I think that was a decent deal. But I not using it as much as I thought I would. The screen is nice, looks to be the same coating as Apple nano display. But the tablet is underpowered garbage.
Also this is what TCL dos. They put out the absolute least amount of crap and repackage it year after year. I am worried how they are going to suck the soul out of the Sony electronics.
Seems like they missed the mark here.

I'm now hoping that the anti reflective coating and grayscale mode on the Galaxy S10+ can get me close to the NxtPaper experience.
The TCL 10" NXTPAPER at ST was free although I had to pay $60 for 3 months of service. This tablet has been reported unlocked due to the 3 months of service back then, not sure about now with the new policy if you need one.
It was under $10 when I bought it and it has been working fine for my kid
edit: I see so you can cancel it after 1 month so it would be $85 and you just hope that it's unlocked?

I bought this to replace my Kindle Paperwhite. I enjoy reading with e-ink device, but the navigation on the Kindle is as good as the Kindle app on a regular tablet, where you can scroll through the pages. Now that the TCL tablet has NXT Paper tech, it seems to be a good alternative to the Kindle. I have not tested the Kindle app on TCL yet, but the NXT Paper option seems to be very close to e-ink.
I am not a big fan of TCL, but it seems like I don't see any other major brand has made this technology yet.
Seems like they missed the mark here.
