Fun fact: if you have an android phone, you can buy the USB endoscope camera off your desired length and a USB C to USB A adapter. There are free apps that let you use your phone screen with the camera. This also opens up options to use larger displays like tablets or maybe even Chromebooks (haven't tried the Chromebook option).
*Disclaimer* I only know this because the screen on my endoscope got cracked while I was working on my car. It was only then that I realized that the camera that was on it was plugged in via a USB A port on the unit. I had some old type C to type A adapters from one of my early Pixel phones (because I'm a hoarder) and tried this out and it worked. I actually prefer to have a dedicated display for my endoscope but these small screens are common and fragile.
Just a random and interesting fact. I might still be ordering this into to replace my old one. Thanks, OP

No. Gave him a ride to the "train station" Smilie. I never thought I'd have a snake living in my soffit/roof. I learned that feeding and providing houses for the birds equals feeding rat snakes! That rat snake had plenty of birdies to eat. I noticed him one time climbing the tree next to my house and disappearing into the soffit. Yikes! The endoscope camera was to see if he/she had offspring. Once it came out into the tree, my son grabbed it and put it into a 5 gallon bucket. Learned that they don't bite.

If you hit up Temu, you'll find a ton of these in various versions. I have one that plugs into your phone and one similar to this (with built-in screen). The one that connects to your phone isn't as good since the USB power from your phone has difficulties powering the LED. You also risk your phone getting wet, crushed or covered in sewer gunk.
My suggestion is getting one that also has a side camera. For inspecting sewer lines, you often need the side-facing camera. the little mirror option they give you doesn't work when the water is murky with unspeakables. You often want to switch between front facing (as you're navigating the line) and then switch to side-facing when actually inspecting.
My suggestion is to get one that at least claims to have a stiff wire. Sometimes these have very flexible wire and that makes them almost impossible to feed more than a few feet into a pipe -- especially if you have bends and junctions.

Thanks - just ordered that one👍
I especially like that the display is detachable, and you can plug the boroscope into your phone or tablet with a USB-A to USB-C converter plug. The listing also advertises that you can swap the cable for longer ones (up to 50m, apparently, which seems a bit much, but it's nice to have options).
I did have to laugh at Amazon's "bundle recommendation" - it was a $30 case for the boroscope, i.e., $5 more than the boroscope itself 🤦 ♂️

My problem with "free" apps is that, if you are not paying for it, you're not the customer -- you're the product being sold.
There are definitely a lot of "free" apps out there that try to vacuum up your personal data or bombard you with ads, but for this scenario, there are plenty of free, open-source apps you can get that will display the camera feed on your Android device of choice.
I'm pretty sure I actually already have more than one app that fits the bill installed on my phone from some project a while back. The great thing about FOSS software is that you don't need to trust anyone, you can just check the code yourself for any signs of evil.
And, as someone who has worked on/contributed to a number of FOSS projects myself, I'm pretty confident in saying that that, outside of an extreme minority of bad apples, devs in the community are usually entirely too preoccupied with just getting the damned thing working and fixing any reported issues to even consider taking on the extra work of adding in some malware/adware functionality that users will recognize in the code in under a day anyway.
The only thing I'm slightly worried about is how the LED controls on the boroscope are implemented, and whether they are easy to trigger when connected to an android device. My gut tells me someone already figured that part out some time ago for their own personal use though, and there are likely various options available on GitHub.

If you prefer to pay for an app in the hopes that you aren't being made into a product, I suppose that is fine too lol. Honestly, that's a fair point... but it is one that could be made with just about any smart product or online service today, free or paid. Shoot, if you have an Amazon account to buy this product, the point is a bit moot considering how many services they work with to exchange information about you. At least you can control Android app access as well as disable/uninstall the app if you aren't using it. If they have app requirements in place for data they don't need, I simply deny access during setup and uninstall the app in favor of one that doesn't try to abuse its privileges.

Again, I'm not championing any form factor over another here. I was simply sharing a fun fact I happened to figure out after my other endoscope broke. I personally prefer the screen attached to the unit. Others might prefer to have a larger, brighter screen to view things.
For something simple like this, the best option is usually a FOSS app someone put together specifically for this purpose for their own use. Even paid app creators can decide to get greedy and add spyware-like functionality to their app to increase their profits.
But anyone who posted their app for something like this to GitHub is usually a hobbyist, and trying to make money off of that is just far more effort than it is worth - they'd be found out almost instantly, anyway, since that sort of thing would be immediately obvious when looking at the source code.

These things are awesome, but the 2 & 3 camera versions are much easier to use
Here's a dual lens version with 5m/16.5ft cable length for $10 more:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FBGHY3H6
It's the same basic model @T-Roy posted earlier in the thread, just the upgraded version with a second cam at 90° to the main one.
I personally went with the single cam version, but that was mostly since I'll likely connect it to an android tablet, and the dual feeds might make that more complicated. I'm not planning on using it for anything too complicated anyway, just want an eye in the wall for when I'll be running PoE throughout the house, to make sure my drill isn't pointed at anything that shouldn't be getting drilled.

Do not get this if you need the camera to change positions.
You cannot view tight spaces if you cannot articulate the camera, so get one with a wheel to adjust the camera's position.
I got one before to look into my engine, and it was useless. I sent it back and got one that hooks up to my phone and has a wheel to move the camera 350* to make a hook on one side and then a hook on the other on one plane.
