My family travels a lot and we were nearly exclusive to Southwest before the policy changes. Now we avoid it whenever possible.

For all the pros and cons of old Southwest versus its competitors (more expensive than budget airlines, lower frills than big airlines, etc), the relative lack of mental hassle in booking a Southwest fare made it (usually) a no-brainer. We took a lot of trips we might not have taken just because the refund policy made us less hesitant to book travel. Now it's a tweener—all of the hassle of its competitors, but not as cheap as a budget airline or as nice / flexible as a big carrier. Why bother?

same as comment above, live in Southwest hub, use to fly decently often, now we avoid it whenever. They really got rid of all the reasons one would want to fly it

If I'm understanding correctly then your wife would qualify for a companion pass if she does the roundtrip travel but you would not get one since you are traveling as the companion and not purchasing tickets to qualify. But she would have to cancel and rebook tickets during the promotional period after opting in to the promotion.
That is what I am hoping/expecting..... She registered, cancelled and re-booked. Then added me back as her companion.

If it all works out.... what a deal. She originally flew to Las Vegas and back in the same day using points to get her current promotional companion pass (which expires March 6). But while using that current promotional companion pass, we will get ANOTHER promotional companion pass for the Fall! Sounds too good to be true.

If I book through my work's travel portal will that count or does it need to be booked direct?

I wont fly southwest unless there was no other option. I've probably flown with then 25 times over the last 10 years and wife and I both had credit cards. Cancelled them both. Was great for flying with our kids but not anymore.

So basically just like every airline and no longer a mile long of fake wheelchair bound people who practically run off the aircraft at landing? That was the whole point. I'm ok with that. I'll see you on.....well probably no other airline since you expect first class treatment for Fronteir Air pricing.
Absolutely it was one of the points. Jetway Jesus is gone. There's a reason all the wheelchairs in the terminal could always be rounded up at the SW gates. Seat saving, fake handicaps, "family" boarding- The selfish American culture ended Southwest's reign as one of the best in the US skies. They had to respond and SW was too scared to do it themselves. So an investor saw the opportunity. It was a no brainer for anyone with a brain.

Southwest isn't even Southwest, it's Elliott Capital walking around like Vincent D'onofrio in Men In Black.

Well...this deal helped my wife and I decide to go to Vegas LOL. I believe I hit all the fine print for qualifying fare within the appropriate time period and I did register successfully for the promotion. How can I tell it worked and I'll be getting that companion pass or will I not be able to tell until completing the trip?

I assume I can cancel existing flights and rebook using flight credits? And one companion pass per account?

Do tickets booked with miles count as qualified?
I was going to ask the same question. I assume "redemption reservation" means paying with points, but at no point during the reservation process do I see confirmation that this purchase will trigger the Companion Pass.
