For those that didn't know, this dropped another $100 to $1699.
Pioneer has moved to car audio so no more future receivers.
No worrying regarding warranty or support, Onkyo will be taking over, clearly they aren't going anywhere.

People often say this is a clone to RZ70 but this has a few extra benefits(more power, XLR outputs).
Here is a general feature comparison.

Save your money for the RZ70 or put it towards something that can do Dirac ART now.

Huh you've said this is a "clone" & this currently less expensive!

You have the 3800 & do not have ART "now"!

Why are you always telling people what they should or should not buy?

Likely because people make a big deal that Pioneer is no longer making receiver and misinformation there is no warranty!

Make sure you test it out before the 14 day return window.
Like every brand, there are failure rates.

Ironically the so called clone of this(RZ70) has a less star rating on BBs website!

had the VSX-LX505 for a year or two, bought the onkyo RZ50 because i bought all new Klipsch speakers... the 8060II's and that beast 504c (something like that) center channel. I read that the Onkyo I have had special settings for Klipsch speakers. I have yet to fool with any of that> I have not even used the Dirac setup yet. So far, the Onkyo is (in my opinion) about as equal to the VSX-LX505 I had. It might be because I am not using it to its full potential. I do love watching 4k movies and I do have the atmos in front and back wired. Not sure I made the right choice in jumping brands. I also think that the Onkyo does not do sub calibration? But the VSX-LX505 did (with the dirac). I'm sure Rob will correct me, lol as he seems to be extremely knowledgeable with home theatre.

lol I like to think of it as clarification and or provide information, sometimes my impression. Wink

In this case, some general clarification/information.

The Onkyo RZ50 offers two RCs, AccuEQ & Dirac LiveFB.
The Pioneer LX505 offers two also, MCACC & Dirac LiveFB.
Both AccuEQ & MCACC do offer "sub calibration".
Dirac LiveFB actually does also, it uses the AVRs bass management to do so.

What people get confused about is that it doesn't use their own version, you need Dirac Live Bass Control for that.

The 505 and the RZ50 are clones. When you got the RZ50, you upgraded away from global crossovers and not having DLBM or DLBC available (since Pioneer pulled the license from the PAC group, it made no sense to continue paying Dirac for a lame duck). Jumping brands allowed you to have more peace of mind when it comes to tech support and parts availability even after the warranty period is up.
You should definitely be calibrating using Dirac. Make sure to set the crossover in DLBM and not in the RZ50's crossover setting if you do.
If you learned anything useful from Rob, I'd be quite surprised!

That's actually quite funny coming from the guy that keeps speculating the information I provide usually comes from a well respected AV Professional that worked directly with Dirac.

Shaddai advice is go over to AVS, apparently all the experts of Dirac are there & know better than those two!

Apparently the experts over there told him even if you have DLBC you should still use DLBM!!!!

Just providing information, don't kill the messenger!!!

For the $1500, yes it was.
Now if we only had a time machine!

Joke aside, unlikely to get there again.
Imo less likely once pricing and or new Onkyo's released.
They will include Dirac ART access which will be costly.
You then need to pay $600 to get it on top of that price!

Just look at Denon's 3800 which already offers everything the new RZ71 is rumored to offer.
Hardly any interest this past BF sale, even at $560 for it!

These current PAC units that include DIrac Live & access to DLBC.
Again zero interest in DLBC for $240!
You look back at all the post from 2021 to now.
VAST majority of buyers said the included Dirac was good , no need for DLBC!

These current units will be in high demand once pricing and or units are released imo.
