Yeah I have the Echo Show 10 in my kitchen, the one that rotates and what not. The UI sucks and it really doesn't do much but tell time, weather and offer me a timer. I got in on a trade in deal and wouldn't buy another.
If they'd give these a more tablet like interface and some actual apps they'd be alright. The sound quality is good, but I have a great stereo so I never play music on it.
Just FYI, I looked into the fire OS on the 15/21, its equivalent to android 9 (pie), so those who are considering side loading the Google Play store, u will be very limited on what you can install

Im invited, which is cool. Debating the 21... what's the best "deal" here? I don't think the larger ones go on sale as often. I currently have a 15 and 11.
I mean technically the best deal is whichever one is the most savings but they're all bad deals if you didn't actually want to buy one and this discounts the only thing that's prompting the desire. I hear you it's impacting me psychologically too since I found out I'm eligible. And I happen to have like a $55 gift card on my account too so I could get this echo Dot Max.
But I just don't prefer these new generations of Alexis speakers that don't have ports. It really limits their long-term usability if they ever shut the servers down or make it so you can stand the ads anymore or whatever. They have very limited utility without ports whereas my old echo studio speakers from 2019 or whatever those make excellent speakers that I can use and plug into a computer monitor or TV even if I don't involve Amazon servers at all.
Not only that, I've noticed any smart home interaction takes longer now. Asking it to turn on the lights used to be near instant, now there is enough of a delay that I have time to look at the echo and wonder if it heard me or not before they turn on.
Yes like there are some aspects of Alexa Plus that are technically impressive relative to other large language models but they still don't make right smart assistance. If you want to ask a trivia question it's a very specific and not easily searchable it's probably better than echo but it takes longer to do basic stuff like lights.
This is my issue with Gemini on Android too. It's pretty neat I suppose if you want to have a long conversations with the digital companion about back and forths about birds or something. But if I ask you to play music it gets really confused and kind of breaks. The old assistant if I ask you to play music it just plays music.

Just got the dot max setup this weekend. I would say an improvement over the last dot, but worried with the speaker or woofer that is now exposed and upfront that may be an issue for some. Just seems it is open to damage. Is it worth the upgrade? It is better, but not sure the value is there. If you have previous then no not worth upgrade and even if you are buying new I might go with older version especially if I got a good discount. As others have motioned if this every hits a very cheap price I would be willing to buy more.

I don't see 20% trade-in for this offer. Do you see both the trade-in and upgrade offer?
They screwed it up (or they're malicious): you get NO benefit for the trade-in if you were eligible for the early access offer. This is a ripoff if you're upgrading and trading in an older device.
I totally agree with that. I used it for about 3 weeks and then I went back to the old one. It was awful. She doesn't want to research anything. I wish she used Google. That would make her tolerable. If she doesn't want to answer a question she just doesn't. I know she hears me but she doesn't like the question so she's doesn't answer you. Really pisses me off that thing.
I hate the new Alexa too. How do you go back to the old version?
I am taking care my elderly mom remotely. The alexa echo system has helped me a lot, specifically it's drop in communication. It enables two way talking without the disabled elderly taking any action....

I hate having to use these devices as I have no doubts about data that is being collected, but if you have an eero mesh setup they are just so convenient for my kids to pop on music they like as well as extend your current mesh setup.
Remember you could get the circular ones for like 5 bucks sometimes? I wish I never "upgraded". I have a show and it just doesn't shut off the mf screen anymore. I have 4 different routines all different ways that are supposed to shut it off at night or with my light routine and none of them do it. All I do is turn on and off lights with it, I don't need a screen.

I have the offer, but I'm trying to de-Amazon my life. Also, they got rid of AUX input for all devices, and I have my Gen 1 hooked up to actual speakers.
