Depends on your usage. I love this mini for heat shrink and heat seal terminals. I use it all the time. It gets into tight spaces and doesn't melt everything around it.

If you want something to strip paint or thaw your frozen plumbing pipes, get the larger heat gun. Scalpel vs machete.

Periodic sale price that pops up once or twice a year. With one exception, $D doesn't have this ever being cheaper. Online reviews appear positive

I purchased this 2 years ago for the same price. I use solder wire connectors quite a bit and use this more than I do my heat gun.

Not sure what you are saying. SD shows it at this same price as the previous low.
Are you saying that it has been cheaper at some point?

They are saying it goes on sale one or twice a year and always at this price. It has (basically) never been cheaper when on sale.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was going to ask about. The last time I tried that with my heat gun I wound up melting off part of the jacket of the surrounding wire by accident.

Same type things for which you might use a heat gun.

My personal top uses are heat shrink for wiring working on or under my truck/trailer where a full sized heat gun is obnoxious, and cleaning strings off 3D prints.

+1 for this, I figured it would end up being more with shipping, but shipping ended up being free.

Will this be able to work on smaller wirings? The attachments looks pretty big.

That's pretty much what he said.
