How are people on simple choice plan qualifying for this deal. Promotion clearly states which plan qualify and simple choice is not one of them. I dont want to go through with this and they change my plan down the road.

I don't think so. The promotion is for Any device. I ordered with a old Motorola phone with broken screen, the promotion credit confirmation showed $799. Just to be sure you have promotion ID R499

This is great.

Getting rid of a Moto Z2 Force that won't turn on, a Z2 Force with screen blotches, a Pixel 1 that won't boot, and a Pixel 6a that won't boot.

Piles of crap from the dog drawer. Will get four Pixel 10 phones that totally for free after Costco in-store takes care of the tax.

I mean, I don't need four Pixel 10 phones, but at least they'll be unlockable in a couple of years and I can give them away or flip them.

I was hoping that ancient stuff like Droid Maxx would work, as I have that, too. I'd rather dump that thatn the Z2 Force with the blotchy screen :-) Nope, not in T-Mobile's system.

BTW, yes, it's any phone where the T-Mobile system recognizes the IMEI. Some really old phones (like the Droid Maxx) are not (or no longer) in their system.

Do it again on the same line. You can always have multiple device payments active on the same line.

Good luck!

Are you lucky enough to be talking about a phone where the IMEI is printed somewhere else? As recently as last month I've used completely dead, shattered phones... that were old enough to pop off the back and read the IMEI printed under the removable battery (remember removable batteries?). LMAO

Good luck!

So I can trade in the new A17 I just got? Do they let you upgrade immediately after upgrading that same line?

Was anyone able to get Costco over the phone to do this for more than 1 line?
I just had this also. First they were like you can do this for 4 phones and then they said actually the promo on your account is for only 1 phone. So I said whatever do it. I checked online and the promo on my account was the R499 that explicitly says it is good for up to 4 lines. I figured I'd just call the next day to do the other lines and I just assumed that they were BSing me because they wanted to get home, since I had called right before their phone line closed at 10. But after I went through with the upgrade, I checked my account online and now I'm not seeing the R499 promo anymore. I guess it got used up or something, but I'm kind of annoyed. 😔 I should have just upgraded with T-Mobile online.
Edit: actually, I made a mistake. I had to select upgrade to see the promotion. I had gone back to shop, but it had defaulted to adding a new line instead of upgrading.

For phones that won't turn on, the IMEI is often printed (in microscopic print) on the SIM tray. That will save your ass in those cases. If the phone is REALLY old the back might come off and you can check that way, but phones with a removable back haven't been a mainstream thing in a great number of years.

Alright guys, I just got home from Costco after getting the lady to help me 3 free Pixel 10 phones on my Simple Choice plan. The reason some kiosk reps might tell you they don't see the promo on your account is because it's a targeted promo. Tell them to enter in promo code R499 and it will pop up, if your account is eligible. I'm not sure why some people are being denied the free activation charge ($45) and/or $100 Costco gift card.

I had 3 of my old phones that I wiped and brought to show them so they could enter it in their tablet. Please note that the kiosks at Costco won't take trade-ins there. You have to either mail them in or submit them in to a T-Mobile store (highly recommended vs mailing in. You get a receipt and instant confirmation that your trade-in was acceptably accepted.)

I went through this ordering process twice when they ran it last September, so I kinda knew what to ask to get things rolling. Prior to going to Costco tonight, I called T-Mobile corporate to confirm that my Simple Choice plan would not be changed by taking this promo. The questions I asked at the beginning of the process and at the end just to make sure things go smoothly:

  1. Is the $45 activation fee waived? yes
  2. Will I get a $100 costco gift card for EACH of the 3 phone upgrades? yes
  3. The phones are completely free after 24 months of credits. yes
  4. Will this change my Simple Choice plan? No
Tax came out to a whopping $245 here in SoCal. Tipped the lady $20 for making it fast and was on my way out in about 20 minutes.

Yes, typically shipped with signature required, even to safe neighborhoods. I've known people who missed the in-person signature three times and had the device auto-returned to T-Mobile.
