Has anyone had an issues trading in a broken device that hasn't been on the tmobile network for 60 days within the last year? Made an order and after looking through my screenshots I noticed it states "to qualify for damaged device promotion, it just have been active with T-Mobile for at least 60 days in the past year". May have to cancel order since neither broken trade in I plan on sending meets this requirement.
Share the screenshots; would like to see the requirement. If you ordered from T-mobile Costco, you will have 90 days to return with no fee (Costco electronics return policy). So just in case the deal goes south because of this new 60 days requirement, you can still return it within 3 months, assuming you ordered from T-mobile Costco. Not sure the return policy of T-mobile Sams, but normal T-mobile return policy is 15 days with $75 restocking.

Looking at my order in the app, the trade in phones show up as the LG that Im trading in and the other (Samsung flip phone that has the verbiage about being on network for 30 days) shows up as "only any trade loyalty"under "trade-in offer details". I'm hoping that the tmobile store will just give me the credit when I go to turn my trade in..

this is incorrect. there are two promos. r499 is for pixel only. r474 is the same 800 off motorola, samsung, and google. can get the s25 free if you have r474 with trade in no change of plan. works on select choice.
How can I check what promo code (r499 or r474) I have on my account?

you can either ask tmobile to confirm or can do a test by processing an upgrade but not finalizing it where youll see the promo. think its been mentioned to some detail within the thread.

When I add an apple iPhone 5 that doesn't turn on I get small print that says damaged device must have been active on T-Mobile for 60 days in the last year
Yeah I hope they're not strict with this. I'm trading old phones that I used as my main T-Mobile phones Samsung s8+ from 2017-2021 and a71 5g from 2021-2024 but sometimes I also switched physical SIM card between phones once in awhile. And been mostly using iPhone with eSIM since last year since my physical sim got damaged. I hope I'm not stuck with two $800 phones because they reject trade in

Thanks for the screenshot, the 60 day requirement is something new. I've traded in a couple month's ago for the Moto any condition any trade-in promo, and that requirement wasn't there. I traded in phones that were never used on T-mobile and got the promotional value for the Moto.

Only time will tell if the 60 day requirement will be enforced or not.

I'm assuming I can find out rather quickly by taking the trade-ins in-store once I get the phones correct? Doesen't the store employee tell you whether it's good or not?

Retail agents are only responsible for collecting trade-ins and the initial condition checks. You'll get a receipt showing that T-mobile has received your trade-in. Retail agents do not approve your promotions; no company will give that power to a retail agent. The approval is done later by T-mobile backend systems that verifies you met the qualifications for the promotion.

The big unknown is if the 60 days usage requirement check is actually implemented in T-mobile systems, or if it's just language / placeholder for now. We'll find out within a month or two.

60 days usage on T-mobile is crazy in a promotion like this. If that is true they will have thousands of returns. including me. Love costco return policy.

T-Mobile is greedy af, greedy af, greedy af. All these phones are more expensive than those available from Best Buy/Walmart/Amazon/Ebay.
You best bet is to only grab those $799 phones so you only need to pay taxes. All other phones over $800 would not worth it unless you know exactly the features you are looking for.
My hunch is those who made the purchase will be the target for future price hike.
if tmobile breaks the contract by raising monthly price of service will that allow you to break your contract of the purchased phone if you decide you no longer want the service at the higher price? that would be a interesting court case, sounds almost like that would possibly be a "bait and switch"

Took a look at the trade in agreement. It says if you trade the phone in-store and it is approved you are good. Same with spectrum in store. Haven't done it at T-mobile yet but at spectrum they have a whole check list that they do with their phone and a qr code and mirror. Once the system approves it you are done.
