Ok your account number is just your GV phone number and your pin is your "call to listen" pin that you set up in the settings of GV. You first have to pay $3 to unlock the GV number.

Porting and failed attempts to order the phone. FYI if you go through the last step and Metro reserved the number you are porting in. But you failed, their payment screen and your order did not go through. Be advised that that number(s) that you attempted to port (no atter how many different phone numbers) are locked in Metro Port Reservation. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THAT NUMBER to process new order using that same # until you call Metro and ask to be transferred over to the porting department and ask them to delete the port. You will also not be able to port it anywhere else until they delete the port reservation. So, all you folks that tried to process a zillion orders after your initial order failed it will never work (even if you fix why your payment didn't go through) until YOU CALL METRO to fix your PORT. With all that said the port dept will want to verify you and the easiest way is for them to send you a SMS to your metro phone so your you don't have a Metro phone working well welcome to the struggle bus have a seat and relax your gong to be on the phone with Metro for some time. Please know this address multiple attempts at porting the same phone number not all the other reasons orders fail on the payment screen. All I can say on that one is , Don't use VPN, don't use discover, don't use a virtual number, wait 48 not 24 hours for your last order attempt to clear out of their system and if you are a religious person…pray

The short version, you must call Metro to make sure any/all the number(s) you are porting over that previously succeed Port Reservation but failed Payment are not locked now to metro reservation once locked to metro they will not work with a new order or another wireless company. This deal is killing me softly, now I remember why I avoided Metro for so long

Since google voice and visible won't work anymore, what's the cheapest way to port in for metro nowadays?

EDIT: after reading the comments on this thread, I see that many people are reporting that a google voice number can be ported over to metro again (like the good old days).

Yes I did. Turns out that both time I was rejected it was because I had entered the account number or pin number incorrectly. Was pretty sure I entered it correctly but this time cut and pasted. Good luck!
It's weird. I just bought a number ($5) to port-in from Numberbarn: Ready to go, I have all info. As a new customer I put in the number to check: " Your number can be transferred." Hit "Add to Cart" ... Not going to the next page ??? Anyone has any clue.Thanks.

Ughh what the hell. I just found it new google voice numbers now require government ID to actually use? I didn't experience this during my first time successfully doing this deal cause I used an old gvoice number.

So have you guys been able to successfully port a gvoice number without uploading ID/verifying/where all you did was pay the $3 unlock fee

I've been trying to take advantage of this deal today and just got off the phone with their customer service. They said they're all sold out. I think they're onto us and they're not going to allow anymore free phones for anyone... 😂. We missed the boat, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, I tried a Lyca and a Numberbarn number so that was wasted money 🤬

I transferred both lines to different phones (without opening the second box). Both initially couldn't go through "due to technical difficulties". I just kept trying back and forth (not starting from scratch) and eventually an eSIM QR code appeared.
I don't know why it asks for a plan change.
I just spent a very long time on the phone with a metro tech, and they couldn't make it happen. I did try online first, and at first it said I had to change plan if I wanted to move the esim to another device. I backed out, logged in again, and from then on it never told me I needed to change plans, but when I got to the final step, after approving the imei and the eid, it said it was having tech difficulties.

I called Metro, and the tech asked a bunch of questions, and I did end up telling her the phone I'm moving it to already has a physical sim, I want to use the esim slot. And she was like, you can't do that. You can't have two lines on one phone. She puts me on hold to ask a supervisor, but I'm pretty sure she didn't explain it well, based on what she said when she came back. I finally convinced her yes, this pixel 10a I have can have two seperate lines, I want to use the esim for the number currently on teh iphone. And she's all "what will you do with the iphone." I have no idea why she was asking that kind of thing, so I said I'm giving it to my sister.

Anyway, we tried and tried and could not get it to work. I tried 3 different web browsers and an incognito browser. farking nothing. I guess I need to go into a store and ask them to move this to a physical sim, and I can move it to an old, unlocked metro phone I have. The lady was even messed up about that, when she told me to go to a store and I asked if could do that, she was really hung up on well, if it's unlocked it's not really metro phone anymore, so it might not work. What? wtf? I'll have to ask separately so people can see, but I need to figure out if this will be a big problem to move this plan to an unlocked metro phone so I can trade the damn iphone in. And what it might cost to do this, buying a physical sim, etc.

Going to a store for a physical sim a good idea?

How hard will it be to have someone at a metro store transfer the info on this iphone over to a physical sim on an old, unlocked metro phone I have? I don't currently have a metro sim. I'm guessing I pay about $10 for a sim? The tech I spoke with on the phone said I shouldn't have to pay other fees since I tried to move this to an esim on my new pixel and failed, and the tech on the phone couldn't get it to work either.

So is that true, is it likely to just cost about $10 for a sim and be an easy transfer at a store?

Any downside to just wiping this phone for a trade without moving it to another sim/phone first?

I know I lose account access at that moment. It's not set to autopay, I know it means I can't get other existing customer deals if I end up having to do this. Are there any other concerns of losing account access before the 30 days is up?

They should stop offering it if they're going to be aholes about people doing what we want with the phones once we own them. Tried hard to move the esim on the iphone to my pixel today so I can wipe and trade the iphone, not only did it not work, the tech was like "what are you going to do with the iphone" (after I move the sim over). Why would they need to know that? I can use it as a doorstop if I want. Eff Metro.

I tried to transfer eSIM, landed into error. Contacted Metro over chat and they did some refresh on my account and in the next try it went through smoothly.

Do you have any more details on what they did with your account? I was on a long time, the lady I spoke to was clueless and ultimately we could not get an esim for me. If I could ask about an account refresh with any details you can remember, that might help.
