I got one of these from Walmart years ago for less than a dollar and it's still going strong: https://www.walmart.com/ip/671917...b307b89d12
What's the added benefit of these other ones? I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on something

The difference is that with this you just push a button and the lid pops up. The kind you linked takes a little bit of dexterity to open. Some people do not have that kind of dexterity or hand strength to do that easily and so they either cannot get it open or they don't have the fine motor control to open it without spilling.
In general, a pill container is a pill container, but when a person has certain dexterity or hand strength issues due to arthritis, Parkinson's, etc., this kind of design is a good quality of life upgrade.

I keep my pulls on my side table, which my cats constantly knock off. Having the little latches helps prevent the pills from exploding everywhere on the floor.

As an avowed "not a cat person," I'd just relocate the cats outside which is what I did to that house cat my husband likes. Problems solved plus I like that cat of his much better now that she's not residing with me. LOL.

After a while, the buttons don't work well. I've had mine for over a year, multiple presses or holding it down doesnt open certain compartments. I need to use two hands. Letters are wearing off too.
