With newer fiber 2Gbps + speeds on the rise, these will be all over eBay soon enough for pennies on the dollar! I had to replace all of mines after updating my internet to meet newer multi-Gig standards. Glad I had Cat 6 cables and it was one less thing to also replace

Probably not. 1 GbE switches would still work great for most people even if they have 2+ Gbps fiber. Also, Cat6 is not required for 2.5 GbE. Cat5e is capable of 10 GbE in many cases.
