Does nearby mean 30ft or 3 miles? As long as the watch is connected to the internet it does calls and texts without cellular. I've had an Apple Watch for 6 years, there hasn't been a single time where it required cellular to work. That's why I'm wondering how spending more money on a version that won't have a plan anyway would be a better buy. If it's the same cost, sure I can see the argument.

Meh. This is nothing compared to the Series 8 SS Cellular deal for 199 two years ago. But for anyone who doesn't need cellular and has been holding out, won't find better than this I expect.
I've been waiting for the next SS deal to come out. I upgraded my wife's Watch 6 to the 8 using that deal. Could probably do without the cellular at this point. I don't think she's really used it more than 3-4 times since buying it.
