Before you buy wzye cams, just go to youtube and look at "current pro reviews and user reviews". Then read some of the 1 star reviews current on amazon or else where. Then at least you go into it with your expectations in check.
Tapo seems to be brand that doesn't really need a subscription , and has newer tech in it. Wzye or other brands have improved over the last few years, so research and enjoy the ride.
mostly my first post was to tell the guys to research what is available NOW, and new features ... I did and switched from wzye to tapo, it is KING of the budget market, with 2k camera's for just a couple of dollars more than 15 dollars, with no need to get subscription and fits 516gb microsd cards, and other features.
Just research before you buy. And then if you decide to buy this wyze camera after your research... go for it and enjoy it.
here is what I just bought of tapo brand:

(you might have to open the video in privaticy tab if slick deals doesn't show it.)
25 mins video that shows stuff topa 2k c216 can do, and advanced features, the tapo 2k c116 is about 18 dollars. Video reviews of that model too are on youtube .

last that works is v3?

For my own house I use a mix of Tapo and some NVR PoE cameras.
The Tapos as everyone mentions doesn't lock stuff behind subscriptions, but the wifi quality and speed isn't as good.
Anyways, just ordered 2 more Wyze cams from this deal because if you have a paid sub you get unlimited cams in the plan so i can put it in random spots like garages or patios.

here is video from Lifehacker comparing the wyze cam v4 vs the tapo c120.

Lifehacker puts the 2 devices to the test ... love that guy's videos.
Lifehacker gives balanced review, but the quick responses on the tapo is great, and all without paid subscription. wifi and speed might depend on the model versions you have. Lifehacker reviews many of these cams, and uses the same test so it's easy to compare them. I'm glad I got the tapo because of the ability to use NAS/tinycampro on more devices. I guess if someone already as wzye paid subscription on all cams in their home, which you have , you are good to go any direction you go in. Obviously the non-subscription model is my choice. Thanks for your post.

I'm sick of the subscriptions from Ring + Wyze I will get rid of my 2 Wyze and 1 Ring cameras
https://github.com/wltechblog/thi...installer
It might turn out not helpful for OG, but might help those with older Wyze cams.
I went to your THINGINO recommendation, and bookmarked it for future browsing, has many of my security cams on it with instructions to install. Cool.

Go for Tapo cameras, you can put an SD card in them and it can do everything Wyze can do and more. no hidden monthly fees, local storage, and a one time purchase of the camera and SD card. Wyze used to be good, but they started SAAS models, removed features to lock them behind paywalls, and just reducing overall video quality...
