About this Item:
  • More power generation: Single-axis tracking mounts maximize efficiency by keeping your solar panels facing the sun at all times. Single-axis tracking mounts can boost the power generation of solar panels by at least 30% compared to traditional fixed solar mounts.
  • 270° adjustment: The single-axis tracking mounting system allows light sensors and controllers to work together to push the rods through 270° of angular adjustment so that the solar panels always follow the sun's rotation, absorbing solar energy from the north-southeast and north-west, thus generating more power.
  • For different panels: The single-axis tracking racking system is also suitable for different sizes of solar panels. Up to 4 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 22in. Up to 3 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 29.5in. Up to 2 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 44.8in. You can install the board according to the actual needs.
  • Stability & installation: Stability of single-axis tracking mounts still deserves your attention. Wind resistance level >L8 and pressure resistance >5400PA are sufficient for most environmental conditions. In addition, the installation is very easy and requires only 4 simple steps: ① Use expansion screws to fix the base ② Connect the A-E rods and actuators to the main pole ③ Installing the Controller ④ Installation of solar panels.
  • Easy to use: The setup is very easy, you only need to operate the controller to complete the control of the single axis tracking bracket system. SET Button - Automatically track the solar mode. FLAT(M) Button - Automatic flat bracket mode.

I'd unhook it and bring the panels inside during a Hurricane.

Looks like it holds two full size panels? Would be cheaper to buy a third panel on fixed racking and get higher total output.

I just ordered eight of these. Even if the motors break right away, they're cheaper then six premade ground mounts. I pulled my solar off the roof to get a new roof, and I'm not going to drill another 800 holes in that new roof. Also, I'll put these in the field for much, much better afternoon solar throughout the year. I am jazzed. And heck, if 8 work, I'll get 8 more and finish out the old microinverter system. The bad news is, I have to dig maybe 250 feet of trench. :\

Not sure about this single-axis one, but for my dual-axis tracker, it has a wind sensor that is used to detect high wind and put the panels back paralleling to the ground. Whether it works depends on where the sensor is placed.
I've also got the two-axis version. The instructions say to remove the panels when winds are over some mph. Unfortunately, the instructions have two different max wind speeds in the two places where they mention it (the highest is around 34 mph iirc). To be fair though, I've had zero problems with the wind. My array is in the back yard and there are lots of trees around, so the wind rarely gets near the top speed in the area. The controller lays the array flat, parallel to the ground, when the sun isn't shining or when the wind speed exceeds some (programmable) value. The array oscillates a little, but has been fine.

Sales tax came to $18.69, 13%! My state charges 9%.
I'm curious of this is a problem with Eco-Worthy products (happens with the batteries too) or some other factor. AliExpress Customer Assistance is useless. They just paste in canned replies in chats and emails. At one point they said contact Eco-Worthy, but Eco-Worthy replied that AliExpress sets the rate. So I just factor that into whether I'm willing to pay the net price.

I doubt I would want to spend long time in the high wind to remove the panels. Last wind, we only tied them down when we saw them shaking.

there's no way the little motors are going to take even a strong wind, much less a hurricane.
The motors in the linear acutators are geared down. One of mine stopped working when the array got hung up on something nearby. I took it apart to figure out what was wrong. The motor itself worked fine, so I wired it back together, closed it up, and it worked fine. I suspect one of the microswitches got hung up when it jammed. The actuators seem solid after more than a year in operation. They appear well sealed against the elements, and they are well greased inside. Plus they are under the array, so they don't take the brunt of the weather. I'm not saying this is a great product, just that the actuators have been working fine for about 16 months now through all kinds of weather and temps.

I wouldn't want to spend ANY time, wind or not, taking those dang things off! It's a pain to install them in the first place. But so far they have been fine. I don't get very high winds. I was a bit ticked off when I read through the instructions and saw the wind speed limits. Don't recall seeing that in any of the listings, and most people installing these aren't engineers (at least I don't think so), so they aren't going to consider that issue before ordering.

Ah no, it's Eco-worthy 200W panel. Not a top tier panel, but also cost me more than the price of this tracker.
A lot of big name panels can be had for $150 or so on marketplace for 400W or so. Commercial grade, UL listed etc.

Did you have any leaks from the solar? I'm debating about either a ground or roof solar set up.

In a space limited area

But you have to account for the tracking articulation of the tracker, which takes up more space, probably about the space of two panels as it moves/rotates, vs 2 panels in a fixed orientation.

Yes to leaks. Rooftop solar is generally a terrible idea, and I'll never do it again, at least not in the "drill into your roof" style. The home solar industry has been such a scam.

Agreed. The only value argument for this with current dollar per watt pricing is lack of space. But even the single axis swing kinda takes the same space as an extra panel.

So I should just get a bunch of these vs paying Tesla $25k?

If mounting rails are properly mounted (predrilling mounting holes - centered on mounting points, then filled with GOOD exterior / roof caulk, and strong exterior rated screws are used) the solar system should have the same life rating as most roofs. Unfortunately, I've seen systems installed where the electricians did not have good carpentry/building skills and the result was 'poooor'

Not sure how a bunch of these solar trackers can replqce Tesla (assuming you meant Powerwall).

I have to agree, rooftop solar is a terrible idea. My first house had it, roof leaked during a defrost and had to pay for interior repairs that insurance wouldn't cover. No matter how skilled and 'good' the installers are, the roof caulk with the extra weight and so slight movement from wind, will fail after a few years. Starting out as moisture around the mounting holes, then exacerbate the next year or two, depending on your sun and rainfall in your area.
