I did notice something though. There are 3 ways to connect this to your computer. USB, S/PDIF and Optical. The sound quality gets progressively better. Meaning USB has the least detail, S/PDIF is next and Optical provides the best sound quality.
Hopefully this is just the case in my situation and it will work out better for others. Mine has been sitting in its box for 2 years now collecting dust.
