Might be able to rig this into a portable shower system. Could be useful for many things.

I just got mine today. I do have a Milwaukee M12 pump that I use regularly at work to pump out water from meter curb vault. Here is my review on this unit that I got for home use.
Pro: 1. Price & Value: completed unit that comes with 2 batteries
2. Quite and as "strong" as my M12 pump (I tested both with clean water)

Con: 1. It feels "cheap" and I would not "abuse" like dropping, banging tossing , etc
2. Battery compartment is not waterproof but does come with an extension wire to keep battery further from water.
3. No storage bag/box

Conclusion: perfect for home use but shouldn't be abused. I do have the minisaw from this brand and that is my favorite minisaw for the $. I think this battery is usable with the saw

Is this a good option for draining my water heater? Looks like maybe I could attach a longer hose (my garden hose?) and reverse the pump direction?

It says max 36 feet of head so if that's accurate then yes.

""Feet of head" refers to the height that a pump can raise a fluid, indicating its lifting capability and performance, measured in feet or meters."
Pumps have tables that show the relationship between pumping height and flow rate. The closer you get to maximum head, the lower the flow rate.

Seems like a good deal. Saw the same design at H9me Depot for Milwaukee for $230 with no M12 battery.
I would gladly pay more money for a Milwaukee stick pump. Saving a few dollars only matters to homeowners. Investing in reliable tools that work is for the professionals.

These have many uses. I have a Ryobi that was $130 from Direct Tools on a good day. Great for pumping rain water from dinghies, basement floods, and small boats that might take on water (war canoes, kayaks). The ryobi has a water proof battery compartment. I don't know about this one. I've also found that I can use the pump to feed ocean water up to a pressure washer on my boat's deck for an unlimited salt water wash down, followed by a quick freshwater rinse from a bucket. Handy when freshwater is limited, like at anchor. UNFORTUNATELY, Amazon tells me the code has expired. Would have liked to get a spare.
The code just worked for me and per the video there is a waterproof battery cover.

I received mine and I can confirm it has a waterproof battery cover or at minimum water resistant. Has nice seal around the cover.

"Frequently returned item"

If you want a pump to move water get a superior 1/4 HP submersible pump for $50 that moves 1,800 gallons per hour compared to this cheap thing that only moves 740 p/h. This probably doesn't even run for an hour with those cheap batteries.
