What happened to iPhone deals?

Need an iPhone 14 or 15 for my kid and have been patiently watching and waiting for a deal but nothing's been posted for many months. Are these phones that difficult to find a deal on? Hoping to get one for around $300ish.

I read apple was selling the phones at a loss because of ram & storage prices. Also they are as popular as ever, so I don't think anyone needs to put them on sale.

The closest are lock-ins , where you have to sign a contract for 3 years or pay the remaining amount


I was super surprised to see the cricket iPhone 16e deal, but that was locked to cricket for a year
( I believe it has expired now )

The new iPhone 17e is $599
