LG's C5 OLED stands out as a bright 4K HDR upgrade, especially for movies and games, with sharper HDR and stronger brightness than older CX and C9 sets. Picture quality is described as excellent, and side by side comparisons with other OLEDs did not reveal an obvious difference. The main catch is that the clearance price is highly local, with nearby stores showing anything from about $1,296 to nearly $1,700. It feels most compelling when found in person at a true clearance shelf, especially if replacing an aging OLED.
Local clearance hunters willing to check stores in person, because the deal can be dramatically cheaper at one Walmart than another.
Movie and game viewers upgrading from an older OLED, because brightness and HDR are the biggest improvements while the picture can look nearly identical side by side.
Yes. The deal is highly local: one store showed $971 clearance, while other nearby stores showed online prices around $1,296.99 to nearly $1,700. It appears to be a true in-store clearance find rather than a universal price.
It can be a worthwhile upgrade mainly for brightness and HDR, but the jump is not dramatic for every use case. If your CX is still working well, keeping it in another room is a reasonable alternative to replacing it.
At $971 it is a strong clearance price for a 65-inch OLED, but it is not necessarily cost-effective if you are buying only for a small improvement. The value is strongest for people who want the brighter HDR picture and are already planning an OLED purchase.
For daily PC use, the main upgrade is brightness and much better HDR. The difference for a desktop monitor setup can be minimal, but movies and games benefit more from the C5's improved HDR performance.
The clearance units were described as brand-new stock, not open-box returns. The shelf was priced out across the full space, and the box had shipping straps and new packaging.
Im not sure but that's why it's marked YMMV - your mileage may vary. It may be available at the first store you check or be 100 miles away. It's a gamble but worth it if it pays off. I just happened to get lucky. Tons of deals like that. The 77" was clearances at Sam's club the other day for $1200 and I couldn't find it.
Couldn't find it in stock? Or found stores that had the TV but not that price?
Yep, just called Walmart near me to check in-store price and dude said $1698.I know, I know, "never call". But this deal isn't for me personally, it would have been for a friend in a town 100 miles away from me. I just wanted to test my own store first to see if this was legit.
I'm also tempted to call vs driving 25 minutes each way just to check

It's legit, just whether or not your store has it. The pictures are in the discord.

Not doubting it was legit for you. But that might be the only Walmart in the country that has it on clearance. Mine had it in stock, but not on clearance.

Do you think it would be possible to have Best Buy call them and confirm the price to price match
I'm unsure. It would likely need to be your local Walmart. A CA Walmart isn't going to price match a MI Walmart sale price. I think your best bet is your Walmarts. If this was their every day price or even an online price, matching it would be no problem. This is very much a "boots on the ground" find it in person purchase from everyone else's input.

What about a Walmart in a different state, do you think they will price match another Walmart?
