I have owned several 8bitdo controllers. I love them, but it seems like something inside gets fried after a year or so. I'm a wizard with tech, so I don't think it is user error.
--- controllers I have/had ---
My 1.5yo SN30 Pro can't pair to a new device anymore. Still connects to previously registered devices with ease though! I've tried to facotry reset, but the lights flicker in wrong ways, so something is fried inside....
I also have a 5yo Pro 2 that will only connect to a Ninteno Switch now. No idea why, because Switch and PC work off of Bluetooth, so it is not like the BT radio is fried. It also doesn't want to reset any more.
I also have 2 Ultimate controllers that I have and have had no problems with. Though one of the 2.4ghz dongles did have something go haywire inside, deforming and melting the plastic dongle case and obviously ceasing to function. 8bitdo support replaced it though with no real hassle; they just needed some photos. I used some software they had to pair the new dongle with my existing controller, which is nice that they have that. Logitech still doesn't provide that for things like their headsets (last I checked).
I also have a 2yo Lite 2 that I've had no problems with. It's exclusively used by my daughter, so it doesn't see as much play time as the other controllers I've had which might be why it seems longer lived.
--- conclusion ---
I still love them for some reason. I am fighting the urge to pick up this deal. NGL, I have started to investigate gamesir controllers, so my next controller might be one of those.
