They are. one of them is liek $40 and another i believe is $95. The good news? I haven't replace a filter and my unit still spits out 12 TDS/PPM water. so unless you're using an insane amount of water, i think the filters will last you awhile. When i installed my unit, I put a $20 inline TDS meter so i can see what it's spitting out. Here [amazon.com].

Regular RO filters simply use water pressure to operate.

2:1 is more efficient than 1:1 despite what others may have posted.

The video for this air switch shows it connecting to an outlet under the sink. So how would this help someone that doesn't have an outlet under the sink?
waterdrop asks outlet as it uses the electric pump to save space, better flow, and more better quality of water by flowing fresh water. Now, I had a same case where I do not have a outlet, but there is outlet at the wall on counter top, you can indeed make extended electrical outlet. so walmart to simply buy cheaper outlet, and cut the middle, and connect back after putting the electric wire inside the cabinet. and use it as it is.

If the claim of 1:1 vs 1:4 is true, I figure it will pay for itself in about a year. In for 1.
How much water are you drinking, holy moly!

What's the point? DJI is a Chinese company, you think they don't make good drones? Roborock is a Chinese company, you don't think they make good robot vacuums? Don't fall for the anti-Chinese Washington machine.

The point is they claim to be American and California based, they shouldn't lie if its purely based in China.

These comments are so funny when theres case after case of American companies routinely deceiving & endangering American consumers. The best part & is when they pay settlement to absolve themselves of what they've done & admit no wrongdoing. Those fines are built into their bottom line, which is why they'll never change. Keep worrying about big bad China tho lol

OPs point was that you wouldn't be able to have the same legal recourse if they lied and are actually based in China.

This is insane. Just buy the dispenser for like $25 on amazon and use a 5 year in line filter... JFC.

This is what I've been doing. Starting to wonder if it's better though to get one that eliminates more of the "bad stuff"?

would be interested to know as well. i have seen this on sale a few times sparsely, been wanting to switch over but haven't gotten the drive yet
A "normal" RO system uses the pressure in your water line to force the water through the RO membrane. Ha, free power, thanks water company! But it uses that same water line to also clean the filter and flush all the impurities down the drain. As it so happens, it takes about 4 liters of flushing/waste to generate 1 liter of purified water. Wap waaaap, the water company wins in the end. This unit uses an electric pump to generate pressure. So, you're essentially using electricity to force the water through the membrane, and as it so happens, you end up using much less water. About 1 liter of waste/flush for every liter of purified water generated. If you're like my family, we use probably 4-5 gallons of purified water a day. Times 365 days times (4-1) gallons =3 gallons = around 5,000 gallons of water per year we'd save by switching to this unit. Our rate for water/sewer end up being about $7/hcf, so we'd save roughly $50 in water per year. There would be some small electricity increase though, maybe $5-10 for the year.

Are the replacement filters expensive?
Not compared to purchasing bottled water!

If you have a garbage disposal under the sink, it's pretty easy to add an outlet.

1000-1300 is insane. I used to take my tds meter around the country wherever I'd go and test the local tap water, and while Folsom, CA was the lowest at 25ppm, San Jose was the highest I saw at 450-475.
Mine is around 800 in Texas. Best money I've spent is getting a lab to actually analyze my water for all the impurities (only 75 clams). Some lead, some arsenic, absolutely zero hardness, and a ton of Sodium, which is why it tastes like saline. People up North don't realize how life-changing RO is for drinking water.
But with zero hardness, the filters last a really long time. If I didn't already have a tank unit, I'd get this. When I got my tank unit, the technology for the tankless units wasn't quite there. Not sure if this is still the case. But protip - pipe into your fridge. It's a lot easier and will also supply your ice maker.

Very high but doesn't sound horrific with those actual water content results. Our town provides those water testing results each year that are done by a 3rd party company, but they don't test for pfas or meds, which RO is going to help remove most of. I put mine through the fridge too, a no brainer, as much ice and dispensing as we use (and basically never need to change fridge filter), but I did have to keep the pressure up or it wouldn't work properly. I definitely like this convenient cartridge system here, but not sure how the cost compares, as 5-stage 3-year replacement kits are about $125.

So, when you buy a DJI drone or Roborock vacuum you get no warranty cuz it's a Chinese company? Make it make sense.

Yeah different cities have different levels of testing. Some cities around here do the bare minimum while others have more robust testing. My test also included PFAS and Fluoride, so that was nice. We don't put fluoride in the water here, but there's naturally some.
