Ego is awesome. Yes, the batteries are expensive. But they are quality, and last a long time. I am just replacing my first battery thats having problems after owning it for ~8 years. That's a decent enough service life for me to be happy.
Also, ego just recently released their commercial powerhead multi tool in the usa. The batteries work with it too, as well as the multi head tools. The new multi head is brushless wihlth variable speed and is static output power instead of only peak rated like the current one. Ego continues to push the product line forward with development. And considering the 5 acres and a commercial property Ive used them to maintain with, I am very pleased with their performance YoY.

That said I have ego multi-head system with trimmer and edger, a hedge trimmer, and 18" chainsaw, and blower. All perform flawlessly. My only complaint is they are quiet heavy and not well balanced imo. I've got a 1/4 acre and can trim the entire fence line(about 180ft I think) and front yard, then edge the driveway, walkway and sidewalk with one 5Ah battery.
I moved to ego after my 20v black and decker trimmer died after 13yrs. That took 3-4 4.0Ah batteries to do the same work.
I haven't seen any with good reviews. If you look at the actually reviews the 1 stars are fairly high percentage, and the good reviews are typically a mix of products the seller sells, not specific to the exact item you're buying.
I've only seen about 1 decent testing of them with actual metrics, and generic ran for 25% less time and was rated 5ah was actually only 3.7Ah. Granted for 1/2 price that's not a big deal IF they also have the same lifetime before dying.
The fast charger (gray) is a game changer. Once you have 2-3 batteries you can mow or work essentially indefinitely as batteries can be charged roughly as fast as they are consumed in the vast majority of applications.
Mowers are the primary tool that bundles the fast charger so you're unlikely to get it through a bundle down the line which makes considering if you want the fast charger up front worth considering.
