Ego is awesome. Yes, the batteries are expensive. But they are quality, and last a long time. I am just replacing my first battery thats having problems after owning it for ~8 years. That's a decent enough service life for me to be happy.
Also, ego just recently released their commercial powerhead multi tool in the usa. The batteries work with it too, as well as the multi head tools. The new multi head is brushless wihlth variable speed and is static output power instead of only peak rated like the current one. Ego continues to push the product line forward with development. And considering the 5 acres and a commercial property Ive used them to maintain with, I am very pleased with their performance YoY.
As for your battery issues - perhaps you let it sit at over 80% or less than 20% charge for extended periods. That will shorten the life of almost all rechargeable batteries significantly. I do wish todays battery chargers had a "storage" switch so that it didnt have to be a manual operation. For the most part I keep mine around 40-60% charge when not in use, and use the quick charger to boost to full when I intend to use it.

Thanks, I got the Greenworks from Costco as my gas powered one just broke. Glad to hear that yours managed to cut thick grass as it is my main concern about a lawn mower.
I have an 800 and it mows my smallish yard easily with a 5 ah battery. It also picks up the leaves on the grass in the fall as well as the Honda it replaced.
I liked the honda, but not having to buy gas is great. The Ego is also lighter and therefore easier to push if you don't want to use the self propel, which I only use going up hill.

As for capacity degradation, I'd much rather have a fully charged battery with 80% of its rated capacity than a dead battery with 100% of its rated capacity.
But that's just like my opinion man.
I have an ego trimmer already so I don't need the other charger, any chance I can return just the charger to make it more slick?
I used a few weeks, any more than 2" tall thick grass, it stuck, not enough power.
I am planning to buy an 80V Greenworks at Costco deal.

I just got this mower last week to replace my Ryobi. This is a significant upgrade over Ryobi. I can tell EGO understands battery technology better. The charger itself has a fan to keep the battery cooler while charging. If you want to extend the life of these batteries don't charge it while it's warm and store inside not in a hot garage. Avoid leaving it on the charger once charged.
