A lot of people complain about low quality of the case. I personally exerience this wits some of their other tool sets.

The metal latches are an upgrade from previous years. I don't see a clasp to keep the slide drawers from opening if the unit is tipped or kept in a vehicle. Likely all of the top suspended items will start falling out with time, movement and usage. The containers are typically an after thought with little concern for frequent usability, but instead compact storage for home / occasional needs.

The Craftsman for 229.00 states there is a knob on the box you can turn to lock the drawers to keep them from sliding open during transport

i have a similar set up with more wrenches. leave it in the garage as supplement. its great when i can grab the whole set instead of walking back and forth to my tool box. $99 isnt terrible.

I get so sick of this select stores crap.. I'm not going to drive 25 minutes one way to find out.. heck I'm not going to deal with trying to negotiate getting into and out of their parking lot to find out even if I'm nearby for something else.
Are their stores like Burger King where some are franchises and others corporate owned? Either make the deal for all stores or none at all. This "pop in to find out" bs needs to stop.

You can easily see if your store has it for the $99 price online before you go anywhere (as mentioned in the OP). And I believe it's just subject to whether this set is in stock or not. The price is the same at all stores.

$99 might as well be normal price on this. I bought it like 4 years ago for 99. Seems like a yearly thing. This is a good tool set. The box sucks. Clips broke within a year and if a big socket on the bottom comes out of place getting that drawer open can be a b---. I recommend buying adapters (i think the one its missing is for the big ratchet drive adapter to let you use the mid size sockets).

Personally I prefer something like this: https://www.samsclub.com/ip/13631702820 because it has more wrenches (and they are ratcheting) and because the case is more compact (no fiddly drawers either). The lower "tool count" is mostly because this one doesn't have as many screwdriver bits, which I don't think is a major loss.

I've never seen a case like this with ratcheting wrenches! I've got a very similar Crescent set (not ratcheting) and it's perfect and very portable.

I have this. Case sucks. 1 clasp never ever clasped. The drawers are ridiculously hard to pull open. But the tools are good and complete fitting my German vehicle and Japanese vehicle well (who won WW2).

Buying from Lowes.com is against my rules. Habitually out of stock after driving 20 minutes to pickup. Habitually wrong pricing or wrong item when I pick up. Habitually website crashes and gets stuck in a loop. Lowe's is unfortunately the most pathetically run company in this space. They built a new skyscraper in charlotte that blocks all sunlight and floods the happy hour with loud zoomers from marketing and iT (tech hub) but they can't spend money on properly building a website in 2026. A waste. Don't even start to think of using their lockers your items will never be there and your order will never be complete.
