Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

we need to talk more. What you experienced is exactly what EVERYONE experiences when trying to trade an S26 for another s26. the $700 promo disappears and theres a message that pops up that says "only one $700 promo per line" But the error even appears on a NEW line as well.Granted i havent been able to specifically TRY an ULTRA for an ULTRA but a base model s26 has never worked. Therefore, I need to know what exactly were the circumstances where you SUCCESSFULLY traded an S26 for another S26/+/Ultra. Because its never been done before. Was the s26 purchased on another account, and then attempted to be traded on a new account? Did you trade in the s26 to get another kind of device, THEN get the s26 ultra?OR perhaps the s26s were no longer showing ON YOUR Account as active devices? Like you swapped out the phones?Either way something isnt adding up and id like to get some concrete answers before wasting a 1.5 hour drive.
It's theoretically possible to trade a S26+ for an Ultra online but I'd rather not put out $1k up front in the hopes of getting $1.1k back after the process.

How many people have gotten $700 disappear on the final screen, like allot?

That's some misinformation the employee gave you. I and many have traded multiple phones on the same or additional lines, but never were asked to wait 2 month for trade. That's the employee being a perk. Something similar happened to me today when I went to a store to trade my new s26+ from another trade yesterday, and he asked me where I got the phone from and asked me go back to the same store to trade that phone (for an ultra).

But for my s25+ to ultra trade, he did it very nicely, I only had to pay about $60+ for taxes.

I went to another store to trade the s26+, and everything went smoothly until the last checkout review page where the $700 promo disappeared. The employee was very friendly and nice and told me maybe that's because the 700 credit applies once per line. That is correct per the terms but I have previously traded at least twice per line and gotten the 700 credit each time. This time not sure if the employee didn't know or was lying or forgot to add the promo. I was in a rush and forgot about adding a new line for $20+$20 just to push the trade with the 700 credit.
He didn't tell me I couldn't do any trade in on the line, he told me specifically I could not trade an s26 series for another s26 series phone until I have owned it for two months and had it unlocked. Manager told me that they no longer allowed these kind of trades and I said that it had changed so he said he would let me try. You are the only one who has been successful in trading in an s26 ultra for an s26 ultra. Maybe just luck or a temporary glitch in the system. Hope to hear that more people are able to but it's not looking good and this promotion has a very short time window.

Yes, I traded Ultra on the same line, for the second time and got all the credits. I have 3 lines and have traded on each line twice to get one or two of S26, S26+, Ultra, and iphone 17e (traded vs the S26) on these 3 lines. The second Ultra trade was great considering I didn't have to pay anything and instead got $260+ back in credit (I'll be calling Spectrum requesting to refund to my card, let's see how that goes). I have 2 Moto Stylus 2024 and I'm thinking maybe I should trade them for S26+ as well (budget is pretty tight and spending $90 on taxes for each trade also something I really need to think before spending). But I'm definitely going back to trade the new S26+ on the same line for another Ultra and get more credits back.

btw, if you don't care for the hassle, just a thought, maybe try trading in your Ultra for S26+, and you should get about $480 (correct me if the number is wrong) back in credits, and later trade that S26+ for Ultra which should again, get you about $160 in credits. I tested online and until the final checkout page, I was again able to see all the credits.

Thanks for the info on getting the free year with the port out trick. I'll try that, and if that doesn't work, I'll call retention.
Thank you for the specifics. I thought about trading it for the s26+, the math works but looks like my store won't let me do this kind of trade and not willing to mail it in. Kudos to you for getting one done and very much appreciate you posting.

I got S26+ in store, and traded in last year's S25. All the credits $400 + $700 + S25 made it completely free and the extra credit went to mobile account. Not installment.
How much was your extra credit for the s25 trade in? Only able to check s25+ for which they are offering an extra $250 over the $700. Thanks

Any suggestion regarding what phone I can buy from Walmart? Also, I have a free line with s26. Can I add a line and qualify for this promotion?

If the system is allowing one $700 per line, would it be possible to trade S26 from the first line on the second line for S26U?

You can use the same line to do another trade in and qualify for the promotion. Many people recommend the walmart moto g 2025 but please search and read more as some people have had issues with this phone. Good luck.

You can try. Its all anyone can do at this point. System allowing at least two $700 credits per line. Still only one person has been able to do an s26 series trade in for an s26 series. Would be great to hear more success stories.

Yesterday went in a and did this in store. I had started the free line 2 weeks ago. I had done a trade for the lame A16 at the time, because that seemed the best deal. I went in yesterday with the Moto G from Walmart and upgraded to the S26+ on the free line. Got $701 for it plus the $400 promo. Paid in full $104 in taxes and fees because I live in CA. So total cost for the S26+ was about $140 with the cost of the Moto G.

What is the activation window for Spectrum Mobile, 7, 14 or 30 days?
If I upgrade a line, how long can I delay activating the new phone? I'll be traveling and plan to keep using my current device for a few weeks.

Thanks for posting. So strange that only one person was able to do it. Good for him or her! Will try for one more s26+ later with and old samsung.

So to be clear, because I still don't understand fully, if I go in store and choose the pay in full option, I have to pay in full and eventually I can get the full credit refunded back to my card? Or do all the discounts stack in store and reduce the overall cost automatically so that I'm only paying the remaining cost of the phone/tax?
