I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Went to third store. Seems like they caught on and said NO PAY IN FULL for trade ins. Also the Walmart phone is now ineligible (WTF). they said its not the same model.
I guess I'll just do it online now and ask for credit back. Also my tax in CA is the full tax regardless. Im not going to a fourth store and go through this shiet.

Can someone eligible for the $700 trade in confirm if the email indicates $700 bonus or only shows the trade in credit for what spectrum considers the value of the phone being traded in?
Mine only shows the trade in value of approx $300 and I'm concerned they will not give me the $700 bonus.

I tried this with a Moto 5g 2025 phone and it gave the credit of $10. See photo attached.
