This will probably be like the PS5 thread, where prices don't immediately change for most retailers on Sunday (except Meta themselves). Most likely, retailers will sell through existing stock and then increase prices when they reorder. While in my honest opinion, none of these are worth the price they're increasing to, I wanted to post for awareness for anyone on the fence about purchasing.

Nice! I haven't felt like I was "winning" enough this week with gas prices!!

This reminds me just how tired of it I have become!!

What movie and game specifically?
Tons of movies, and there are AI upscaled conversions people have done which are absolutely fantastic. The Quest can do 2k per eye in terms of resolution. Streaming from a PC over wifi to the Quest, where the PC is doing the heavy lift on the GPU, is very nice for high resolution movies. But as an example, I just watched Tron Legacy and Ares.

As for Virtual Pinball, there are two options. There is a native Pinball FX app on the Quest which I highly recommend. Tables look phenomenal in VR. If you want even more realism in terms of graphics and physics, you can take a look a Visual Pinball X (VPX). VPX is completely free. It would run on the PC and again stream to the Quest via Wifi. Pinball FX has about 20-25 tables released. VPX has in the hundreds. My personal favorites will always be Addams Family and Star Trek TNG.

Be careful. QVC and HSN are filing for bankruptcy.

If you have a Cap1 credit card and want to roll the dice - I went to the meta website and poked around on a laptop that has the capital one "snoop on everything you do" extension and the next day I got a "spend $330+ and get $150 credit back" so I bit and grabbed the quest 3 512 - which I have found to be neat but not as exciting as I had hoped

Let me see if I got this right. Meta invests heavily in AI data centers buying up all the GPUs/memory out there, then says due to a chip shortage they need to raise prices on their hardware?

That's just stupid.

It's a bummer that years-old tech is now going up in price instead of going down...
Get used to it since globalism is dying. This is what will happen with reshoring industry

This is weird. I was lucky enough to get the 512Gb version for $307 (after $100 Amazon credit) in early December. That was probably a blip, but the general price during the holiday period was a temporary cut of $100 off MSRP. I was chatting to a friend in the UK who had picked one up recently - Meta were selling off new headsets as refurbished when he bought his. I get that storage and memory have both gone up in cost during and since that time but how do you go from clearing out inventory to increasing prices by 20%?
Price increase is designed to create fake urgency... Prices will be back down below this price by Black Friday this year because of slower consumer spending and lack of buyers at these inflated prices.

Everything will be on fire sale WHEN the AI bubble eventually pops.

Thanks, I'll try the pinball. I've seen some of the Meta 180 degree stuff like this:

Most stuff I see is sadly just 2D screens in the 3D VR space. For that stuff I would rather just watch on my TV.

I saw that promo too. I've been hesitant to use offers like that given the cb balance in my account there is $0, despite me having used their links on a couple of sites. They have wording on those offers about users only being eligible for one email offer ("Limit one Home Page Activation Bonus offer per user") - would that mean you can only use that particular offer (in this case Meta) once, or that once you've used one of these big %age offers you are ineligible for any others (LG frequently shows up with very generous percentages for example).
It's been a good run for me. I got over $1500 in rewards last year. But yes, I'd be wary of the fine print.

c1 credit card is not required for that c1shopping extension.
