I'm guessing there must some disability reason that someone would need this... not just, um, too lazy to reach up and touch the screen?

It could also be for devices whose screen smudges easily. With this you wouldn't have to touch the screen. Tbh at first I thought this was some sort of remote Bluetooth page turning device for devices without Bluetooth.

I don't have any disability. I just have my kindle paperwhite mounted on a reticulating arm to read my books (especially during the winter cold), so I don't have to take my arms out in the cold.
