there's an easy fix to that. get a working aaa and place paperclips connecting both positive and negative terminals to both batteries for 30 secs. it'll charge again afterwards.

I've been a heavy Eneloop user until recently. Switched to lithium rechargeables. They seem to hold up longer and are 1.5v instead of 1.2. The only downside I've noticed is that because it has a buck converter in each cell, it registers 1.5v until it's dead and goes to zero. So you won't know if it's close to being out of juice.
